Back at Mike's house, Jillian asks him how things are going with the family dynamic. Mike tells her that Max is seemingly apathetic, and it disgusts him. Jillian tells Mike that he's identifying with Max because of the things that he went through and the pain that he's felt. Looking at Max brings up all that pain and suffering. Mike tears up and nods. Jillian tells him that the only way to make this go away is for him to acknowledge these feelings within himself and allow himself to feel the depth of his own pain. Then he'll come through the other side. Mike cries, and it is sad. Jillian tells him not to worry about Max right now. She says that if Max is really ready and wants help, she will help him. Mike gives her a big hug. Jillian fixes everything!
It's then Jillian's turn to visit Tara on Long Island. When Tara answers the door to find Jillian there, she's totally psyched. She tells us that it brings back the stability of the ranch, because she feels like her life is in chaos. This is evidenced by the mess that is her room. Jillian asks her what's happening. Tara says that when she came home she felt like she lost control. All of the panic and chaos in Tara's insides is reflected in the state of her bedroom. Tara tells us that she almost doesn't want to move back in. She's reminded of sitting in her room eating pizza and watching TV. This sounds like an awesome thing, but in this case it is not. Tara does not want it to be her life. She tells Jillian that she came back to the same old habits. She worked out for six hours one day, then went to the grocery store and started noshing on pita chips before she even reached the checkouts. She berates herself for being weak. Jillian tells Tara that she's not going to live the rest of her life without pita chips, and that there has to be balance. She's gone from one extreme -- the addiction of overeating -- to compulsively exercising. Balance is critical. To wit, Jillian is going to train Tara and then take her out for a drink. And then things will get crazy and everyone will be glowing in the morning. They work out, then head to lunch. Jillian tells her that having a couple of glasses of wine and dessert when a friend is in town isn't going to ruin everything. Tara acknowledges that she has to loosen up a little, and that unless she gets some balance but quick she'll wind up living in a state of chaos.
