Down the Donut Hole

Dolvett notices that Jessica seems to be unfocused, and lacking drive. He asks Jessica how things were in her recent six-year relationship, two and a half of which involved an engagement. She says that she took a lot of crap that she probably shouldn't have. We then learn that Jessica's ex knew her when she was thin, and was extremely insecure and jealous of the attention that she got. And so, he pushed her toward food, and Jessica gained 135 pounds while she was with him. She also became isolated from her friends and family. Dolvett tells her that if she changes her mindset, she can change her lifestyle. He tells her to keep her focus, and gives her a big hug.

Oh NO. And then, after a commercial break, it's time for a visit to Dr. "Death" Huizenga. This time, the trainers get to come along with the contestants and enjoy Grim Reaper Theatre. Jennifer is first to get her horrible news. We learn that she's a news producer, and really likes herself. Dr. Huizenga is here to tell her that she is wrong to have such healthy self-esteem, because she has 155 pounds of excess fat, and is going to become a diabetic at any moment. He displays a digital image of a skeleton in a fat suit that's supposed to represent Jennifer. She cries, of course, and Dr. Huizenga is like, "Aren't you glad that you now know all this bad news? You're welcome."

Dr. Huizenga then meets with Bonnie and Anna. It turns out that Bonnie had her stomach stapled in 1991. She went down to 200 pounds, but lost muscle instead of fat. Then she got back up to over 300, and so is much worse off than she was in the first place. He displays the image of skeleton in a fat suit body, and then delivers the news that she needs another artificial knee. For that to happen, though, she needs to get her weight down. He then hands Bonnie an iPhone so she can talk to her daughter. We learn that one of Bonnie's grandchildren has Down's Syndrome, and he talks to her on the phone, too. Her daughter assures her that everything is fine at home, and this conversation has given Bonnie the extra motivation that she needs to hang in there despite her currently grim prognosis.
