After commercials, we catch up with one of my favorite former contestants, Abby. If you'll recall, Abby was the absolute saddest. Her husband and kids were killed in a car accident, and she just always seemed like she was going to cry. If she was not already crying, that is. But then Abby got happier! And she was ready to fly! And here she is, looking great. Since she left the show, Abby says that life has been fantastic. The biggest message that came out of her journey was that you can know joy despite hideous circumstances. She had the opportunity to write a book called Working It Out, and says that hurt and suffering come in many packages. Everyone has their own stuff to work out. Now, it's been five years since the accident that took Abby's husband and kids, and two years since she was on the show. She's started dating again! She introduces her manfriend in the audience, and the two are appropriately cute and corny together. And they're engaged! Awwwww. Abby talks about feeling again, and opening herself up to love other people. She has a fantastic marriage, and feels lucky that she gets to experience really good love twice in her life. Hooray! I am sincerely happy for her.
Then we briefly catch up with country music singer Dan from season 5. He and his mom have committed to running 500 miles over the course of a year for charity. He really looks like he's in great shape, and advises us to remember the following incantation when faced with the dessert table: WWBD? (That's What Would Bob Do, of course.)
