With that, we get to check in with Lindsay! If you'll recall, Lindsay had pre-diabetes at the beginning of the season and dreamed of becoming a cheerleader until some bitches were mean to her. Dolvett basically was like, "Screw those bitches," but in a much more tactful way that prioritized the development of Lindsay's own self-confidence. And then Lindsay was super brave talking to an assembly at school about bullying, and also was no longer at risk for diabetes. And then Lindsay is with us live, cheering with the team from her school. It's sweet, though I actually think the kid actually just might not be a very good cheerleader. She looks fantastic and happy, though, and is overwhelmed at the support that she's getting. Ali announces that Lindsay has lost 47 pounds, and can run a mile in 9.5 minutes. Lindsay tells us that hard work does pay off, and it's awesome not to get tired when you walk up the stairs. Aw, good for her!
More kids are to come, but first we'll get a few of the contenders for the at-home prize to weigh in on the giant scale. Pam is out first, looking great until she does her stupid dance. Not actually charming! Nate comes out in a shiny suit, followed by Alex who is consciously trying to knock us all out with her fly-ness. Ali calls Pam's dance a defining moment of the season, to which I say DO NOT ENCOURAGE HER. Nate's family got in shape with him, and we see his mom who has lost 70 pounds. Alex tells Ali that it's all about having confidence in yourself. She lacked it at the beginning of the season, but now she's got it in spades.
After a brief shout-out to defector Nikki, who is in the audience with a fancy new haircut, it's time for our first three contestants to take on the scale. Pam, we are reminded through montage, whined a LOT. Jillian wanted to murder her pretty much constantly for the first few weeks, until Pam lost nine pounds and did her crazy dance that people mysteriously find charming. Pam started the show at 237 pounds, and now weighs 166, for a loss of 71 pounds or 29.96%. She does the dance AGAIN, so I think we'll all be glad when she's dethroned from her current position of first place by default. Then there's Nate, who started out as a bit of a sad sack but really buckled down and showed a serious work ethic. He started at 359 pounds, and now weighs 260, for a loss of 99 pounds or 27.58%. A significant accomplishment, but not enough to dethrone Pam. Finally we have Alex, who was also a big whiner. Jillian gave her hell for phoning it in, and then they had an emotional breakthrough about Alex's fear of not being good enough and the pounds started to drop. Alex started at 240, and has dropped to 156 or 35.0% lost! She's the new leader, and we can say goodbye to Pam's dance forever.
