It's time for Episode Four, Part Deux! On Episode Four Part the First, Jillian screamed a whole lot.
Purple Amy, who was banished from the gym by a furious Jillian, says that when someone yells at you like that, your first instinct is, "Screw you, I can do this by myself." Um, unless you're trying to lose like 300 pounds or whatever. Back at the gym, Jillian tells Bob that her team hasn't been doing anything and so she freaked out. Bob gets one of his "Jillian's off her meds again" looks and doubtlessly wonders if she can be helped by the healing power of yoga. She regales Bob with the story of Purple Amy's smirk, and he sympathizes a bit with her, or at least is unwilling to contradict her, and says that if the contestants don't want it, how can the trainers want it for them? And then! Amy appears in silhouette at the gym door. Jillian simply says, "Good choice. I like it." Apparently Jillian's team realized that she was kind of right. Purple Amy is hoping that all the crazy emotional stuff of this week will help her succeed in the upcoming weeks. I do hear that being screamed at burns 120 calories per hour.
Meanwhile, it's dark out, and Coleen is still working out. She recounts the tale of Jerry's elimination and how she's all by herself, Eric Carmen-style. But Coleen thinks that it's going to make her stronger. She's going to work as hard as she can for herself and her family. Oh, and then it's time for Bob to take his team to Subway. If you're going to Subway, park at the farthest spot in the parking lot! It makes you have what Bob calls "accidental exercise." And, you know, Subway has subs. The healthiest food in the existence of man! Aside from gum!
Back at the gym, Michelle ruminates on her relationship with her mom. Divorce, abandonment, estrangement, etc. Michelle confesses that her weight gain goes hand in hand with her emotional eating, and there are emotional days that are directly attributable to her mother. Michelle books an appointment with Dr. Phillian. Dr. Phillian tells us that Michelle's inner conflict is eating her alive. Just as one might eat a 6-inch turkey sub at Subway! Mmm, delicious inner conflict! So filling! Michelle feels crazy on the inside, but Jillian tells her she's not crazy. She respects how scary and hard it is for Michelle to be there. Jillian tells us that in order for Michelle and Renee to have healing in their relationship, Michelle has to live for Michelle. Michelle says she doesn't want to bring her mom down. Jillian tells her not to worry about her mom, or anyone else. The whole point of this is to get Michelle to do what she needs to do for herself. When she chooses herself, she's empowered. It's a lesson that Kelly Taylor taught us oh so many years ago. The bottom line is that we're either in, or we're out. And Jillian doesn't want to bid Michelle auf wiedersehen quite yet.
