Scott Foley is all excited about his miniseries The Last Templar. Aw, Noel, I love you and I'll try to watch it, but no promises about night two.
On a yacht, the rainbow-colored contestants are speculating about their next challenge. Sami says it's an individual challenge. They are hopping in sea kayaks, pedaling for a half a mile, climbing a mountain and getting a little teeny flag. Um. Yeah. Damien says she turned their little idyllic day on the boat into a trip to hell. That's pretty much Sami's job. He should have learned that a while back. Winner gets immunity for them and their teammate. And they get a phone call home. Second, third and fourth get a phone call home. Joelle is not impressed by this and thinks $25,000 is a better incentive. Yeah, this girl is going home. Carla's gonna kick her ass. Last person across the line gets a one-pound disadvantage at the weigh in. Daniel talks about the week two plateau and says this is crucial. Black team and brown team each have to sit someone out, which I suppose is fair. Blaine competes for black, Mike's in for brown. Blaine thinks he's got this in the bag. Sami sounds the horn, and they are off.
Blaine and Helen are neck-and-neck. Daniel's struggling and seems to have trouble staying afloat. Tara kicks it into high gear. She's got a competitive spirit that I enjoy. Sami narrates, but she's like a mile away from them and looking at them from a mountain, so she's pretty much doing this for her own purposes and for the people watching, not so much like Jeff Probst's egging people on. Blaine's first on land, and Tara is hot on his heels. Jerry and Dan are both fighting to stay out of last place. They're laying back in their kayaks and can't even sit up. Tara starts running, she thinks that's her only hope. Blaine lets her pass him; it's part of his plan. He doesn't want to get burned out. But this hill is REALLY steep and they're both struggling. Blaine's body basically gives out, and Tara wins. They get little wooden plaques with their "prizes" written on them. Very Survivor looking.
Mandi hears voices in her head. It's her sister Aubrey, who helps push her into third place. Helen wants the phone call home and makes up and gets the last phone call. Then it's Mike, Damien, Kristin, Joelle and Filipe. They are all safe. It is down to Jerry and Dan. Jerry's way ahead and takes it slow and steady. Dan says he just doesn't want to die getting to the top. Tara heads halfway back down the mountain with Mandi, and they basically push Dan up the mountain. Eventually Blaine goes down and helps them, too. He finishes the last little bit himself, with encouragement from his teammates. Tara is my hero. She was the first one to run down to him, the rest just followed her lead. And this mountain is damned big. She deserves her immunity this week. She's really proud of herself and feels alive. Aw. Dan thinks he'll be able to overcome the disadvantage. He's glad it's him and not Jerry. Aw. Dan. Seriously, this teenager is making me want to cry. Then Tara is my hero again. She gives her phone call home to Filipe, because he has a family and kids at home. I hate this freakin' show. It makes me so emotional. Filipe is so thrilled and he's crying.
