Ruiz doesn't come around until Cross and Wade enter the warehouse. "Why didn't he kill you?" Cross asks with her usual sensitivity. Maybe he wanted to keep his body count at an even dozen (spoiler!)? Ruiz's first thought is for the million dollars entrusted to him by a cartel boss, and Wade says it's there. He's holding the suitcase open so we can all see that the cash doesn't appear to have been touched. There's the sound of a cell phone alert, and Wade opens the plastic bag to find Gedman's severed head inside. All three of them are disgusted and horrified, but that phone isn't going to answer itself. Wade grabs one of those plastic gloves that Cross always keeps on her person and reaches into the bag with it to retrieve the blood-spattered phone. All three of them recognize the same phone-shot video that's playing on it, the one the killer sent before, that shows Cristina Fuentes. Yes, remember her? In all the excitement over Maria, everyone seems to have forgotten about Judge Gates and the half-girl who was found with her. But this is an extended cut of the video, as they see Cristina taking the phone and turning the camera lens on the other person in the room. He's drinking and disheveled and climbing on top of her, but it's clear who it is: Special Agent Ralph Gedman. Yikes, so many questions. Does this explain why Gedman looked so nervous earlier? Almost certainly. But how did the killer know Gedman would be involved in the drop? Was he ensnared in the killer's plan later on, or did Gedman kill Cristina Fuentes himself? Whatever the case, that was one dangerous cell phone video to be in. Zero percent survivability rate, by my calculation.
