Back in Juarez, Graciela Rivera is standing on the sidewalk outside her butcher shop, drinking from a bottle and swaying along with the mariachi band playing there, when one of her goons comes out to tell her they have a problem. He's really selling it, too, emoting the line as if he doesn't know there are going to be subtitles and thus the only way to convey his meaning to English-speaking viewers will be to egregiously overact it. Inside, her men have discovered a dozen or more tracking devices inside the guns. Of course, we've known all along that Tim's in the pocket of the ATF and this a sting operation, but of all the people who could have possibly found out next, Graciela is probably the worst.
Cross is back at her desk in El Paso, looking up Kenneth Hasting. Ruiz glances at her screen and tells her to give it a rest with David Tate, so Cross says she's moved on to Kenneth Hasting. "Nope," Ruiz says, having recognized the driver's license photo on her screen. "That's David Tate." Cross gets excited all over again, and says, "Marco, this is Kenneth Hasting. And he has a current driver's license." He comes over for a closer look at the license, which does indeed show the name Kenneth Hasting, and a photo of someone we know. And you will not freaking believe who it is: it's Alma's coworker, Kenny. He's even using the same name as the dead man. Ruiz looks again at the photo and insists, "That's David Tate." Who obviously knew about the real Kenneth Hasting's disappearance from the Childress investigation, assumed his identity, killed a shitload of people, and, unbeknownst to Ruiz, is now fucking his wife. There are times when "whoa" doesn't begin to cover it.
So meanwhile, at the party, Kenny, a.k.a. Kenneth Hasting, a.k.a. David Tate, leads Alma Ruiz out onto the dance floor. He's still acting like the same schlubby, mild-mannered, lovable loser we've known him as all this time, but now it's somehow more sinister now that we know it's just an act and that he's actually killed more people than Charles Manson. And yet, the one who has a confession to make is Alma. "I'm pregnant," she says after preparing him for bad news. "And married, and out with another man. " The Artist Formerly Known As Kenny asks, "And enjoying yourself?" She says she is, and he says he is too. He took that pretty well, even for a serial killer in deep cover.
Of course, from his point of view, as we'll find out later, this probably just sweetens the pot. Alma says it's messed up, and TAFKAK agrees, but he still says he likes her. "And I want to talk you home with me right now. Meet me outside in five?" Having noticed Santi, Jr. heading up to the men's room, he steals a kiss from her and heads up the stairs not far behind. She smiles up after him, clearly half in love. Imagine if she knew what he was planning to do in that bathroom, and I don't mean that in the usual sense.
