Another night, Sam and Whitney have stopped by Erin's apartment to chew the fat. Erin invites them to Brother Jimmy's BBQ, where JR is a bartender. You know what that means? He probably has about 47 communicable diseases. Bartenders are whores, y'all. Whitney asks about the whole Duncan situation. Erin says that she's torn, because he's been wonderful over the phone but is still, in fact, in another country. She is also confused, because she and JR have long discussed getting back together in the abstract, but now it's a possibility. Whitney jokes that she might as well medicate herself with some free drinks from the bartender, to which Erin responds that she might like a little bit more than that, if you know what I'm sayin'...
Whitney foregoes the bar for Olivia's friend's benefit. Olivia flits around introducing herself to people, as Whitney smiles self-consciously. Soon enough, Jay's surfer band starts playing. One of the confused patrons actually "raises the roof." Those Uptowners cannot understand the Downtowners' language. They are just so different! Nevan makes his bland entrance, and Olivia asks whether they should sit or stand. Whitney notes that they won't be able to see if they sit, so Olivia and Nevan parade off to sit, leaving Whitney alone. Because they are bastards.
Meanwhile, Erin and Sami go to Brother Jimmy's to see JR. Erin reiterates her ménage-a-dilemma.
Back at the gala, the band continues playing. Nevan makes fun of Jay's clothing, evoking all sorts of logger imagery. Seriously? Is that the best you've got? Do I really need to bring up the shiny black underwear again? He starts doo-wopping and jabbering about being the missing link in their band. Basically, he comes up with everything he can think of to demean Jay's band, and none of it works because he is a bigger dickweed than all of Tamarama combined and squared. He is, after all "Bevan." All the while, Olivia isn't actually vocally contributing to the conversation, but she's not stopping it, either. And Whitney is dancing nearby, trying to tune out the buzzing in her ear. The producers also make it look like Jay can hear what's going on, despite the fact that he is actively singing and playing guitar. Good try, producers, but not quite...
