Walt's voice comes through a megaphone. He identifies himself and tells Ritter to drop his weapons and come outside, and he won't be harmed. Ritter laughs and picks up his guns. He removes the bullets from the clips and tells Johnny to try to understand that God works in mysterious ways. Ritter walks out. Johnny calls out to him, but Ritter moves towards the door reciting, "And I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up mine eyes unto heaven and mine understanding returned to me. And the glory of my kingdom, mine honor, and my brightness returned to me." Ritter reaches the door and kicks it open, holding his guns aloft. Johnny hears a hail of gunfire, then picks up the boy and slowly walks out. As he exits, we hear news reports saying that the boy was rushed to the hospital and is in stable condition. The news reports continue, listing all of the terrible things going on in the world as Johnny carries the kid into the light.
Next week: There's a mine cave-in. The announcer promises that "two men will enter, only one will leave." Will it be Walt or Johnny? Well, we know Johnny's going to live, but are they really going to kill Walt off? Wow.
