Who the Heck Are These Guys?

BRIEF FLASHBACK: Samantha gets kidnapped and Mrs. Buchanan gets shot. I think this is supposed to be what's going through Leila's head.

Madeline finds a list of names and numbers. Since they're not phone numbers, Sean decides they must be a code of some kind, and then declares, "If it's a code, I can crack it!" That's not really how codes work. Unless Sean is a brilliant cryptographer or something. He probably is. Anyway, he just needs a computer and some technical mumbo-jumbo. And Madeline knows someone. I guess Sean can't just call that day-trading jerk from before.

An older, white-haired gentleman plays with some flowers. It's Hal Holbrook! A young gentleman enters to tell him he has a call, but Mr. Holbrook would prefer to talk about his genetically engineered orchids. Me, too. If this show suddenly became all about botany, it would have to be a step up, right? Although I guess it wouldn't necessarily become more scientifically accurate. It would probably be about crazy, time-traveling plants that behave erratically.

The phone call is from Carter, who is in FBI custody at the Dallas Field Office. Once the FBI picks you up for killing a bunch of police officers (and shooting at an FBI agent who managed to arrest you), wouldn't you think they'd be pretty strict with you? Well, Carter is apparently alone in an office, chatting away on his cell phone. Wait, that can't be his phone, surely? Wouldn't Collier have confiscated it as evidence? That must be some lawyer in there talking to the agents. Anyway, Carter speculates that Sean and Leila are in Atlanta at the Buchanan home. That implies that it's been a good 18 hours since we last saw Carter, because otherwise he'd say that Sean and Leila are on their way to Atlanta. Maybe your massive conspiracy should have had someone staking out the Buchanan house as soon as Sean disappeared off the cruise ship! Mr. Holbrook hangs up without being much help, aside from validating the theory that Michael Buchanan was picked to fly the plane because he'd been poking around where he shouldn't have been. Poor Carter is still in FBI custody, I guess.
