Steve asks Claire her last name, then pulls up a bulletin about Amanda on his phone and shows it to her. He tells her to find a cop. And now Amanda's here. Steve tells Claire to run and when he tells Amanda to leave her alone, she stabs him. Ryan loses Louise, but finds Steve, who's still conscious, so Amanda can't be as good with a knife as Louise is. Claire is fleeing through the crowd, with Amanda after her and Ryan after her. Claire runs directly into a cop, who greets her as Miss Matthews and brings her to his car. He tells everyone on his radio that he has Claire, so Louise pops up and shoots him. Claire starts screaming.
Claire flees into an abandoned building. Ryan catches up to Louise and tells her to drop her weapon. She starts, like, crazily flirting with him, asking what he'll do if she refuses, and Ryan says he'll shoot her. Louise is a fucking idiot, because she starts to say she doesn't think he has the balls to do it. Ryan shoots her. Duh.
Abandoned building. Another one. Jesus. I know the economy is bad, but every other structure in Richmond seems to be all plastic sheeting and exposed beams that the followers can hide behind. Amanda stalks Claire, Ryan stalks both of them. Amanda pops out from behind a pillar and shoots Ryan with a nail gun. He hears Claire begging for help, pulls out the nail, then finds her -- Amanda has the nail gun to Claire's head.
Amanda shrieks at Ryan to drop his gun. He does. Claire cheerily, maniacally rambles that Claire has to die because Ryan has to be punished -- "You slept with Joe's wife and between you and me, I don't take that lightly!" Ryan tells her to let this Claire go, because she's not Joe's wife and Amanda screams, "It's a freakin' metaphor, RYAN!" Yeah, Ryan, why aren't you up on your figures of speech?! I find this whole exchange unexpectedly delightful and hilarious, but maybe that's because my brain is numb. The other agents arrive and Amanda tells them to stay back. Ryan keeps trying to negotiate with the crazy lady and tells Amanda to kill him instead, because the same argument he's been making to every single one of Carroll's fucking lunatic followers is sure to work eventually!
Amanda can't believe what an idiot Ryan is as she explains, "No, I have to kill her. Love hurts, Ryan. That's the theme here." Themes! Metaphors! Are we sure Carroll didn't actually teach eighth-grade English? Amanda says that Joe is the only one who gets the happy ending (and that's not all he's getting from Emma); cheaters don't get a happy ending. Which I guess answers the question of what they're going to do with Claire 1.0 when they get her back. I bet Amanda would be just thrilled to know Joe is banging Emma. She starts screaming about her cheating husband and demands to know why Ryan slept with Claire. He says he loves her.
