Blade Into You

Ryan asks Maggie what she wants. She says she'll trade Jenny's life for him, but he has to come alone or she'll kill Jenny. He asks if Carroll knows what she's doing, but Maggie says she's going rogue since Ryan killed her husband. The clue she gives him about her location: "Your sister promised to show me how to make a good risotto." Ah yes, the famous risotto swamps of Maryland. I know them well.

Jacob comes into the room where Emma is staring at the Internet and asks if she's heard from Maggie. She has not, but she says she's more worried about Megan. Emma silently slides a knife over on the table and tells Jacob again to take care of it. He protests that it's Paul's job, because it's only polite that everyone should be responsible for murdering their own uninvited guests, but Emma turns and says no, Jacob should, since he's the virgin here.

Flashback to Jacob telling the group about trying to dispose of a dead body. He's doing a little better than Steve Carell talking about how breasts feel in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, because he seems to have fooled all the other sick murder junkies. Emma's all turned on and strokes his face, then asks who's next in their gross little sharing circle.

Jacob apologizes for lying to her and says he loves her, but he was ashamed of his inexperience. She asks why he'd be a part of the cult in that case, and he says he wants to, and that he did try to kill someone. Emma says it's time to do more than try. She picks up the knife.

Ryan tells Parker he has personal business to attend to. She sees through him, obviously, and asks where he's going, but he repeats himself and storms out. Mike asks what's going on, and Parker tells him to follow Ryan. Mike chases after Ryan and asks if he's going to Brooklyn, because that's where his divorced, 38-year-old sister, Jenny, lives. Mike asks if Maggie has her. Ryan slams Mike against the wall and asks if Parker knows. Mike says she doesn't and asks to come with him to help. Ryan says Mike will get fired, but Mike says, very lucidly, that he's not thinking clearly due to the trauma of the loss of a fellow agent, so they'll probably just slap him on the wrist. Ryan's like, sounds good to me! Road trip!

And these fools are seriously driving from Richmond to Brooklyn? I realize they don't have the full power of the FBI behind them because they're sort of going AWOL, but there are pretty frequent commercial flights from Virginia to New York, I promise. That's like a nine-hour drive depending on the traffic--Maggie's going to kill Jenny just because she gets bored while they sit on the New Jersey Turnpike. Mike asks Ryan if he and Jenny are close, and he says it's complicated. Mike shares that he has three brothers, but he's only close with one of them. Ryan pointedly pulls off his jacket, pillows his head on it, and sacks out. Mike's all, fine, I'll just drive 500 miles by myself in silence to save your family, ass.
