Smiling cult guy stares at Ryan, then walks past him as the news lady asks Aimee what the hell she's going on about. Aimee just grins and says, "Death is coming," then stabs her in the gut. Ryan tackles and disarms Aimee while everybody runs around shouting and flailing. There is just no way anyone could have seen this coming!
FBI agents bring Aimee inside the sheriff's station and dump her in the interrogation room, where she continues grinning crazily at Ryan when he comes in. She's delighted to see him. He asks her name, but she just starts reciting "Annabel Lee" and asks if Ryan will grieve his love when she dies, like the man in the story grieved for Annabel. He's like, I have had just about enough of this bullshit, but Aimee keeps babbling about death and how this was all meant for Ryan. Oh, I wish he'd start breaking her fingers.
Instead, Ryan flips over the table, grabs Aimee by the throat, and demands to know where Claire is, muttering that he will kill her. Claire wants to die, Aimee tells him, so that Ryan can be reborn. This... seems to be a good enough answer for Ryan? Because he lets go of Aimee and leaves the room.
The Grays' house. Carroll is making a great pasta feast. Vicky, Phil, and Claire are in the dining room, still tied up, with the poor Grays fretting about whether Carroll is going to kill them. Claire says he won't, but Carroll comes in and asks why she'd make such a silly promise. She starts trying to explain that he can send a message about Claire to the FBI through Vicky and Phil, but Carroll tells her quite matter-of-factly that he's already commissioned a messenger to tell Ryan all about how he's going to kill Claire. He serves everyone penne and red sauce, then offers Phil the Parmesan. Phil's all, please excuse my lack of hospitality but I think I'm just going to ralph everywhere.
In the garage, Jacob is sitting in the Grays' car. Emma finds him and says it looks like he's planning to leave. Jacob mopes that he has nowhere to go, although his pompadour disagrees: I'm sure he can disappear into the Elvis impersonator underground absolutely seamlessly. Emma's bangs are sorry for making Jacob's hair sad. Jacob tells her it's okay and kisses her.
Dining room. Carroll opens another bottle of wine and whines about the faculty dinner parties he used to make Claire suffer through. He's having trouble with the corkscrew because he can't brace the bottle against his hip, what with the oozing, infected stab wound and all, and she asks if she can help him with that, since it's obviously hurting him. But he'd need to untie her. He's like, fine, just give me my go-go juice, cuts the ropes binding her hands, and passes her the bottle and if there is any justice in the world she will BRAIN HIM WITH IT. But no, Claire just opens the bottle while Carroll interrogates Phil about whether he trusts Vicky. Whether he loves her. Whether he'd die for her. When Phil doesn't answer, Carroll holds a knife to Phil's neck until he gasps that yes, yes he would. Everyone else at the table is crying while Carroll just sits there and sweats scotch and blathers about how this is love, Claire, you uppity bitch. He tells her to have a glass of wine and enjoy the company, because this is her last supper.
