Bludgeoning You With Poe, Forever and Ever, Amen

Ryan finds Mike, who's still alive, but he's all pasty and has had the wind knocked out of him. He tells Ryan about Ava and tells him to follow her. Mike was wearing a bulletproof vest, so he's okay, mostly. Ryan finds the two dead SWAT guys. On the other side of the woods, Ava is telling Emma the SUV has a full tank and everything they need. Joey hangs back and asks where they're going, which gives Ryan enough time to come running out of the woods and shoot Ava. But Emma takes advantage of the moment to shove Joey in the car and drive off. Ryan doesn't think to get the license plate; he just flops over while his heart jackrabbits and he looks like he's going to drop dead.

A man is driving down a dark country road when Jacob comes out of the woods, holding his bloody hands up. The man stops and asks if Jacob's okay, but rather than replying, Jacob pummels him in the face, then chucks him out the door. Paul gets in the other side and they tear off.

Mike is telling Parker and Ryan that they've blocked off the roads for ten miles, yet no one's seen them. Ryan asks Parker if she wasn't supposed to have the place locked down, but she tells him about the two new guys who killed the SWAT team members. Mike asks how they planted a cop in the local police and somewhat rhetorically asks, "Who are these people?" Ryan goes off to mope about how everyone is terrible at their jobs except the serial killers.

Mike asks Parker where Carroll's followers came from and she says it's human nature to want to belong. And then she flashes back to talking to her parents. She says she came to see her parents because they're family, but her mother tells her father that she came out of guilt. Mom tells Parker, "You destroyed us" when she left in the middle of the night, that it cost them their standing in the cult. Parker says she doesn't want her mother's forgiveness, but she came to forgive her and tell her she loves her. Parker's father looks sad, but her mom still has culty crazy eyes. Dale comes up behind her and Parker gets up and walks away.

Flashback within the flashback. In 1989, Parker's mother asks her what she's done and starts trying to lead her back to the room where Dale is, saying, "You have to." She shoves her into the room and Dale puts his arms around Parker, who's still crying and screaming.

Present-day Parker has the thousand-yard stare of That Time My Cult Leader Raped Me. Ugh.
