Previously on The Following: Joe Carroll murdered a bunch of girls. Ryan managed to track the followers to their house in Dutchess County, but he wasn't smart enough to bring more backup than poor doomed Officer Lopez. And Claire enthusiastically got herself kidnapped.

We pick up where we left off last week, with Paul holding a gun to Ryan's head. Joey is still at the top of the stairs and Ryan tells him to go to his room, with Paul screaming the order for good measure. Ryan moves away from the stairs, with Paul keeping the gun on him. Jacob and Emma come in and update Paul on dead Hank and Officer Lopez. Emma says they should stay calm, but Jacob and Paul are both freaking out because surely more cops are coming -- which Ryan confirms, listing off an alphabet of agencies that are backing him up. He says none of them are making it out of the farmhouse alive.

Claire and her kidnapper, Mr. Eyebrows, arrive at a warehouse. She's starting to get alarmed, but seems to realize it's kind of too late to run screaming, especially when Eyebrows unlocks a gate and then locks them both in. It's his basement lair; he puts his gun away on the wall o' guns. Claire asks when she'll get to see Joey, then tries to clobber Eyebrows, but he just chokes her and tells her not to make him hurt her. Oh, Claire. You are so very stupid.

Mike and Possible Follower Cop Ava arrive at the farmhouse. She points out the house and he tells her she's doing well, not panicking. Other officers have arrived, including Chief Logical Cop and Ava tells him Lopez is dead. Mike tells the chief to focus, that they need to guard the perimeter until the feds and SWAT arrive.

In the house, Jacob has found some ropes. Paul tells him to tie Ryan up, but Ryan's aggressive smirk scares Jacob. He dares him to do it and says if Jacob gets within two feet of him he'll break his neck. Paul says if he does that, he'll shoot Ryan, but Ryan repeats that Jacob will have a broken neck. He's somehow intuited that Jacob means more to Paul than anything else and even though Paul says he's bluffing, Jacob is still freaked out. Ryan's phone rings and Paul tells him to hand it over. Ryan's all, come and get it, pal. Paul tells him to put it down on the table, which Ryan does.

Eyebrows's lair o' gloom. Claire gets up from the couch where she was sitting and starts pacing. She asks Eyebrows again when she gets to see Joey and he says she'll know as soon as he has an ETA. She spots a copy of Carroll's novel and asks Eyebrows how he knows her husband.
