Turner wires Haley for sound while she, Parker and Ryan discuss what she's going to do: she'll give Vince his package, make small talk, and then when he leaves, the FBI can follow him. She's very cool about her role in all this, and says it'll be easy peasy, lemon squeezy, since role-playing is what she does for a living, and then asks Ryan, "You don't trust me, do you?" He's all, not as far as I can throw you with this bum ticker. He wants to have a code word she can say in case things go wrong, and she's quite familiar with the concept of safe words: she says "green" means go, "red" means stop, and "yellow" means take it easy.
So Parker thinks "red" will work just fine, except won't Vince know what "red" means, if he and Haley have been kinky partners? Shouldn't they have a safe word he won't know? Blarg. Amateurs. Another FBI agent tells Ryan and Parker that they've switched out the things that go boom in Vince's shipment, and he won't know it's fake till he tries to blow something up.
Cult house. Carroll is having his before-dinner aperitif when Jacob brings Claire in. She's all tarted up, but still looks terrified. Well, it's about time. She backs away from him when he approaches, then apologizes, but he says it's all right and offers her a drink. Claire's all, ARSENIC. BRING ME ARSENIC. Wait, no. That's me.
Ryan and Parker watch Vince arrive. He greets the bouncer and goes into the club. Several FBI agents go over to search his car for explodey things.
In the club, Turner is the agent they've chosen to stake out the bar, which is kind of amazing, since he looks about as out of place as Bill Cosby would in there. Although Bill Cosby might bring some refreshing post-flogging pudding snacks. Vince is apparently that guy, because as he walks down the hall, he bangs on the doors, yelling that he's not hearing enough sex. I suppose it shouldn't surprise me that everyone involved in the cult has the social skills of a decaying caribou. In Haley's office, she tells Vince she can't get mixed up in a murder cult. He deadpans that the word "cult" offends him, and then grabs her ass. She hands him his box and tells him to get out.
Vince comes outside with his box and wants to kiss Haley good-bye, but she just gives him a hug and tells him to be careful because she worries. He offers to take her with him, and when she resists, he starts shoving her into the car. She tries to laugh it off and says, "This just went from green to red," but instead of helping her, Ryan tells Parker to wait because he wants to follow Vince. Haley's all, "RED RED RED RED RED," in a really obvious way, but Ryan really wants to protect the investigation rather than his source. Vince pulls his gun on Haley and forces her into the car. The FBI SWAT guys ask Parker if they should move in, and she tells them to stand down, because they're going to follow him. And now this reminds me of this New Yorker story that just got nominated for a National Magazine Award. Like, you jerks have a responsibility to keep her safe.
