A handcuffed Kimble, the two officers, Mia, and the mechanic manage to get Nutbucket into the squad car. Kimble tells the officer to tell the hospital that they need a vascular surgeon on hand. "Why you talkin'?" the cop demands. They all get in the car, and we hear CB chatter about arranging for transport of the fugitive.
At the hospital, Kimble struggles out of the squad car -- handcuffed, yet still applying pressure to the wound -- and tells the medical staff, "He blew out a femoral artery, he's going to need a graft." Nutbucket is placed on a gurney and they rush him into the hospital. Kimble expertly tells the attending Doogie Howser the situation and starts ordering up lactated ringers. He asks if they are going to take the cuffs off. "No," snips the cop. "Curtis, for god's sake!" Doogie shouts. "What, you want him to get away? You want that on your head?" Curtis asks. Doogie asks him if he wants Nutbucket's death on his bald head. "Come on, Curtis, I've never seen an injury like this, much less know how to treat it! He'd be dead already if not for this guy, whoever he is!" Doogie tells him. The cuffs come off as they move Nutbucket from gurney to operating table. Doogie orders all the cops out of the operating room. "Medical personnel only," he says. Curtis calls him a punk and tells him he's going "to get his ass so whupped." Doogie tells him fine, after they save the patient, and locks the doors. More ER-like drama, complete with the jargon and spinning camera angles. They are told that the chief of surgery is scrubbing in. Kimble tells Doogie to take over applying pressure because his hands are cramping up. Doogie takes over, and Kimble grabs Doogie's badge and ducks out a back door. Unnoticed by all except Curtis, who's caged on the other side and who bangs on the door and shouts. Kimble runs through Urgent Care, pursued by the cops. Double doors separate them, and Kimble performs a move from The Graduate, except that in Kimble's case, he barricades hospital doors rather than church doors, and his cross is the removable side rails from a gurney. "Where have you gone, Richard Ki-i-i-mble? Bubba wants you more than you will know, oh, oh, oh." Kimble outfits himself in some professional-looking scrubs that totally hide his face. Not. He slinks through the hospital, ducking behind examination curtains. He sees Mia being questioned by an officer who has his back to Kimble. She spies him, and every line in her face screams, "Look, he's over the behind the VeryFine machine!" The cop is dull, though, and falls for her ruse that she sees him in the parking lot. Kimble and Mia talk briefly. She believes him. He tells her to take care of herself and her baby. She tells him to go. He goes. Who was that scrub-clad man?
