The chase picks up speed. Zach spins out on the road and blocks it. The deputy, in an effort to avoid the car, yanks his car onto the shoulder, but he's going too fast, and the car rolls and then bursts into flames. Zach warns his thug-crony that "no matter what, we weren't here," and runs away just as his daddy pulls up in the big, shiny po-lice car.
Wow, I sure hope CBS shows us the skyline of a big city so we can situate ourselves with where the story is! Son of a gun, there it is -- the skyline of Chicago, distinguished by that famous Chicago landmark, the Marriott hotel. Okay, I think at this point we get it. Gerard = big city, Kimble = backwater burg. Anyway. Gerard is on the phone complaining that he can't believe he can't get NCIC to scan a photo into the central databank. Gerard goes back to staring at one of "Fred Johnson's" fake passports.
Back to Midnight in the Garden of Cretin & Cretinous. Zach walks into his dad's office, where his dad is getting Shelley's car dusted for fingerprints, and says that he saw Jesse hot-wiring the car just the day before.
Billy's Tavern. Kimble is saying goodbye to Billy, and Billy shrugs and says no hard feelings, "Ray." He got a better offer, and he understands. Kimble asks where Shelley is so he can say goodbye, and Billy says she's down at the station, clearing up some questions around the theft of her car.
