Maggie walks away from the phone booth in Illinois as Lt. Bubba hears over his CB, "We may have spotted your escaped convict." Lt. Bubba's eyes pop. "Repeat that!" he barks. "They've got Kimble," crackles the voice. I believe he said, "Repeat that," not "Say it in a different way." Man, it's shameful the way the police force today doesn't follow orders. Chasing all over the business district of Savannah. Kimble manages to get himself on a little bridge over an alley just as a cop catches up with him. Kimble flings his leg over the railing. "Don't do it!" the cop shouts. Kimble does it, and lands in a garbage truck. This can only make me think of one thing -- the scene in Better Off Dead when John Cusack lands in a garbage truck and two guys working on trimming a tree say, "Now that's a real shame when folks be throwin' away a perfectly good white boy like that!" Best line in the whole movie. Kimble scampers out of the truck and continues running, although now the cops are actually shooting at him. He darts into a parking lot with the cops close on his heels. Suddenly, he's gone. Disappeared into thin air. The cops start checking under and in all the cars in the lot. They neglect to look especially hard at a pick-up truck, where Kimble is hiding in the overhang of the flatbed. But then his cell phone begins to ring. And ring. And ring. Fred Johnson, a.k.a. One-Arm, leaves a message for Kimble after hearing the voicemail say he's reaches the claim department of the Social Security office. Mr. One-Arm growls that he got the message left for him in Miami, and he wants to know how the office got his name. He starts to leave his number as "nine, one," but thinks better of it and says he'll call back. He hangs up with an ominously gloved hand. Meanwhile, the cops finally find the source of the ringing: they see a neatly folded-up phone left on top of some equipment in the flatbed truck. I guess if some idiot wants to leave his ancient mobile phone out in the open like that, it's really none of their business. What is their business is that Kimble is now lying on the ground underneath aforementioned pick-up. But they walk off anyway.
