Claire's in a grocery store parking lot, loading her car with bags, when she catches sight of another shopper who's cut her hand. Claire stares hungrily at the blood on the shopper's palm. "Distracting, isn't it?" asks the very sexy Paul Blackthorne. Claire happily greets him as "Christian" and they catch up like old friends. Claire tries to make life in The Gates sound wonderful, but Christian sees through her. He gives her his card and invites her to call him. In the instant it takes her to glance at his card, he vanishes.
Police station. Leigh's been digging around the computers. The system was hacked from someone inside the community. Nick looks perturbed.
At the Radcliff home, Claire is screwing up her fourth practice soufflé. Frustrated, she goes to the wine room to grab a nice, sterile bag of blood. Nothing appeals to her, though, so she turns away, Christian's card in hand.
Back at the school, Brett walks into the washroom, where Lukas has apparently been waiting around to taunt him about Andie and be allergic to sleeves. He gleefully tells Brett all about Andie kissing Charlie a few days ago, which sends Brett into a door-smashing rage. He heads off with the intention of talking to Andie, but Lukas grabs him and calms him down. He invites Brett to go "running" with the other wolves tonight. Brett can't; even though he's suspended from the football, he has to be at the game tonight. Lukas taunts him a little more about following the rules. Brett looks anguished.
English class. Mr. Abernathy reads to the class about Henry VIII's hot feelings for Anne Boleyn. Andie is particularly disturbed by the thought of Henry having Anne beheaded for infidelity. The class ends with Mr. Abernathy going off with a girlfriend who looks to be well out of his league.
In the late afternoon, Lukas, Brett, and some other teens meet at one of the side gates in the community's imposing stone wall. Brett hesitates before joining them.
Back at the station, Leigh has just finished fixing the computer problems... or so she thinks. A few seconds later, the computer starts lighting up with dozens of intrusion alerts. There's a commercial break, during which the Keystone Kops investigate some of the break-ins. We come back to Nick telling Leigh and Marcus to keep checking the reports.
Claire is having drinks with sexy Christian at a nice little bar outside of town. They reminisce about some of their exploits back in 1961. They both look fantastic for their ages. See, kids? Sunscreen really does pay off! Christian likens living in The Gates to "a grizzly bear checking himself back into the zoo each night." Heh. Claire tells him she and Dylan don't feed on people anymore, since Dylan gets their blood from his lab now. Christian scoffs, but Claire insists she's happy. Christian studies her with a mixture of intensity and good humor.
