Janice voices over that she and Peter had a difference of opinion on all the models she chose so far. Peter criticizes one model for his ears, one for the dark circle under his eyes, one for her long torso. On the last one, Janice replies that she "photographs amazing." And it's hard to capture "amazing" in its natural habitat. Janice voices over that Peter doesn't see the potential that she saw "in my choices of all the models that I chose." I'm beginning to think that Jade was really Janice in disguise. Gabe really is a makeup genius.
Next is Lauren, who was Janice's favorite female of the first five. Janice says, "There you go, a blonde." Peter gives her a long look and says that Lauren is a blonde girl who is very, very thick in the waist. And this one really isn't Peter's fault, because Lauren is indeed kind of thick all over. Janice tells her to get on the scale. Peter says, "I don't need to weigh it." Did he just call a model "it?" I mean, I'm fine with that, I was just checking. By the way, Savvy totally laughed at that. Janice yells at Peter not to be so mean. Well this is quite the role reversal, isn't it? Janice says that these are her babies, and that Lauren just turned eighteen and is going through hormonal changes. Oh, the old hormonal changes defense. As Lauren steps on the scale, she notes that she's also on her period, and Peter says that every girl is on her period when she needs to get weighed. Model weigh-ins and swimming class, I guess. Peter is totally unaffected by Janice's pleas for compassion. He tells Lauren that she weighs 149 pounds. Lauren can't believe it. Well, believe it, thunder thighs. Peter simply says that the scale says 149. Lauren appears to be really upset. Janice voices over that Lauren has by far the best face in the agency, and is going to be the one who gets all the big campaigns. For Lane Bryant. Janice says that she's working on Lauren, and some models are just larger than others. Yes, and Janice would have called those models "fat" in the not so distant past. What's up with her being so nice? I don't like it.
Nyabel, a.k.a. Sudanese, is next on the scale. Janice tells Nyabel that she's looking very nice, and voices over that Nyabel is a star. She has a lot of work to do, but also has the "it" factor and a killer smile. Nyabel, says Janice, will be one of her stars. Peter looks at Nyabel and just says, "Not good." I totally want to do that to someone sometime. He says that Nyabel is 5'7" and weighs 135 -- nay, 137 -- pounds. She needs to lose weight. Nyabel busts out with a bit of the attitude and says that she's been dieting and running for two weeks. She interviews that the first time Peter met her he started criticizing her. She was mad, and also didn't like the way that he was looking at her. It must be said that Peter is both an asshole and a tool. An asstool. Peter says that there are quite a few models about whom he wonders what Janice was thinking. He says that you can't stretch the height, and some of them have to lose thirty pounds. A model has to look beautiful both in person and on film, and some of them just aren't working for him. I have to say that, objectively, I am not crazy about some of the models, but Peter's asstoolishness makes me believe in Janice's vision even more and wish for a serious accident involving a tub of lard to befall him.
