So, the French Minister of Trade is due to be assassinated by Bobo. And The Lone Gunmen stop him, they put the new issue out ("GOV'T MAKES CHIMPS THAT THINK GOOD, KILL BETTER"), and all is well. The end. No, I wish. The assassination is due to go down at the National Zoo. Frohike, Byers, and Yves go to bust it up, and Langly is left behind with Peanuts, who is to help him crack into the lab's computer. Langly is pissed that a chimp can do his job better than he can. Aren't we all? I mean, when that happens. The requisite joke about their newspaper being used to line the bottom of cages is made, with Mark Snow really cranking up the mischievous in the background music, and Langly says he's going to build Peanuts a tire swing. Okaaay.
Left in a cage, Jimmy is woken up by Dr. Asslips. Is Jimmy ready to do the right thing for his country and say who his friends are? No, Jimmy is not. Good for Jimmy. Wait -- they just got an email. A ransom demand. They traced it though. Hoo, boy. How about tracing the address where Peanuts sent his first missive?
A bunch of paramilitary grunts burst into the high-tech barn and discover Langly hanging upside-down, trussed in a tire. He is also gagged. When his gag is removed, he says he's going to "kill that chimp."
In a speeding, faux-FedEx delivery van, Peanuts hides in a box addressed to the National Zoo. Scary keyboard chords of MacGuffin play.
We're at the National Zoo. Very picturesque. The French Trade Minister is there with his family, speaking to members of the French press in -- guess what? -- French. Byers skulks three feet behind, talking surreptitiously into his body mike. Yves and Frohike, sneaking into the primate house, read him loud and clear. They arm themselves and look for Bobo. Oh wait, that's a female chimp, Lady Bonkers. Bobo is -- whoa! On top of Frohike. Knocking him out and into the outside viewing area. With Byers outside, urging them to hurry, Yves sedates Bobo and drags Frohike back inside, piling them both into a zoo hamper, or something. Byers watches in horror as a chimp scampers out with a banana just as the French Trade Minister walks up to the railing. We go into slow-mo, and Byers yells "Noooo!" and tackles Frenchy. He then gets a bust in the snoot for his trouble. Then, in the pen, Lady Bonkers calmly eats her banana. I? Weep.
