Seth and Ryan round a corner at the country club. Ryan looks silly in a black blazer over a black t-shirt and jeans, while Seth looks unusually adorable -- even for him -- in a seersucker jacket and baby blue sweater over a white button-down shirt and jeans. Ryan asks what the rehearsals all about, and Seth explains that it's just "stupid Cotillion stuff -- bowing and curtseying." We then scan the room to reveal dancing couples, led by the Puberty Lady keeping time: "One, two, three. One, two, three. Try to enjoy this, please." Hee. Ryan grabs Seth by the elbow and turns him around: Seth didn't tell him there was dancing! Seth explains that if he had told Ryan about the dancing, Seth would be there by himself right now. Ryan fesses up that he doesn't know how to dance, and Seth responds, "Neither do I. I just move well." He then does a combination of breakdancing, the snake, Tae-Bo, and a seizure. Ending with a karate chop type of thing, he asks, "Did you see that one? Huh? Maybe later? You ready?" Hee.
Seth and Ryan are now watching the dancing couples, and Marissa approaches with a clipboard to introduce them to "[their] debs." Summer smarms over to say, "We've already met," while staring down Ryan. Marissa explains that Ryan has "already been promised" to someone else, and Summer snits that she can't believe Marissa "gave him" to another girl! And really, since they're supposed to be best friends and Marissa has a boyfriend, it was kind of a crappy thing for Marissa to do. In any case, Summer asks who's pathetic enough not to have a date the day before Cotillion, and a feisty-yet-sensitive girl -- we know this because she has the feisty-yet-sensitive girl's haircut -- appears to snit, "Actually, at this point, that would be you." Marissa introduces the girl as Anna Stern, who just moved to Orange County from Pittsburgh, which causes Summer to say, "Ew." Anna stands with her arms crossed and wants to get the deb thing over with; as she heads onto the dance floor, Seth mumbles, "¡Caliente!" Marissa looks pleased with herself, pointing out to Ryan that it's not that bad, after all. Ryan responds that Marissa hasn't yet seen him dance. Marissa offers to help, leaving Summer all, "So, like, what am I supposed to do?" Seth sits on the table next to her, swinging his legs and looking uncomfortable. He coughs, "Over here!" into his fist, and then starts whistling innocently. After enduring a few seconds of this, Summer concedes, "Let's go." Seth's all, "Are you sure? Because if you're not totally su --" but she cuts him off to snap that he shouldn't talk to her, which is okay with him since their "connection is a little bit deeper than words." Hee. Summer stares Seth into an apology, and he announces that he's "chock full of quiet now." He puts his hands up to dance.
