Finding Emo

Student Disunion. Seth sits on a sofa and pretends to read a giant book, while peering over it at Summer, who is happily surrounded by water polo players. Anna flounces over, sits next to Seth and says, "So. This is you and Summer being a couple?" She's apparently attempting to appeal to Seth's love of Smurfs, because she's dressed up like one. From the waist down, anyway. There's really no other way to describe this particular color as anything other than "Smurf blue." And as big a fan as I am of the mod tights look and, for that matter, of Smurfs, never the twain shall meet, as far as I'm concerned. Seth responds, "Ain't love grand?" Anna mocks that she can really sense Seth and Summer's bond, and that the closeness is overwhelming. She shouts, "Oh my God! Wait! Is it last fall already?" She points out that Summer is ignoring Seth, to which Seth responds that Summer has her priorities in order -- Anna knows how she feels about charity. Anna laughs and inhales like she's about to say something; when Seth hopefully asks, "Yes?" she reconsiders reassuming her role of relationship counselor and instead tells him, "Good luck with that." Seth returns his attention to the cackling Summer.

We see some serious shoes and legs, leading up to the divine Lady Heather. Luke turns from his locker to greet her, and she explains that she's there for a parent-teacher conference. They agree that it's good to see each other, and as he starts to drool over just how good it is, she scolds him that she's Marissa's mother, and that he's a student at the school. He gasps, asking if that means they're over, and she close-talks, "No! I mean [not] in the hallway." She says she'll see him that night. A hand clasps her shoulder, and she starts; the camera pans over to reveal Jimmy. She awkwardly asks, "You remember Luke?" and he snits, "Who could forget?" Jimmy announces that he's glad to see Lady Heather, because Dean Kim scares him. Luke bids them farewell, clumsily walking away backwards with an "I'll, uh, see ya...both!" He tries to enter a locked door, looks further embarrassed, and hurries off.
