In the present, Sophie explains more about the ritual, until Klaus gets a phone call from Marcel that offers him sweet, sweet reprieve from all this exposition. Marcel tells him about all the dead witches in the bayou. He thinks a werewolf was involved, but it wasn't a full moon that night. He asks Klaus to come with him to check things out. Sophie, overhearing the chat, is frantic about the dead witches. "If I don't consecrate them before sundown, we'll lose the link to their magic!" Hayley wanders into the middle of their chat. Klaus doesn't care about Sophie's rituals, and heads off to meet with Marcel. "Save the rest of your story for when I return!"
Father Kieran is still hard at work cleaning up the church when Marcel drops in. "Come to visit your prisoner in the attic?" Kieran asks. "She's not a prisoner," Marcel says, adding,"and I'm moving her tonight." Kieran is upset that Marcel is using Davina against the witches, but his opinions don't exactly hold a lot of sway with Marcel.
Elijah is in the middle of examining Tim's broken violin when Marcel barges into the loft. Elijah hides, and Davina covers for him with Marcel. He tells her the good news about moving, then leaves again. "You didn't reveal that I was awake," Elijah notes. "We're not done talking yet," Davina says. They talk about Davina's relationship with Marcel, and how she considers him family above the witches. "They made me and my friends do this Harvest ritual," she says, "and said our participation would bring our families strength." She has a flashback that picks up right where Sophie's left off. Convenient! She, Monique, and two other girls were selected. "All they wanted was more power," she says, "but I left before they could get it." If they don't complete the Harvest, they can't proceed to the next part of the ritual, called the Reaping. The witches will lose their power. "What does it take to complete this ritual?" Elijah asks. "I have to die," Davina says simply.
Sophie heads to the cemetery to pack up a few consecrating supplies, where Hayley follows her and talks her way into going along. She thinks it will be her chance to learn more about her family. Rebekah also shows up, and also gets herself invited. All she has to do is call Klaus and tell him to stall Marcel while they do their thang in the bayou.
Klaus is none too happy about this, but sits down with Marcel at Big Auggie's Bayou Bar to await some informant that's supposed to have info about the witch attack. Klaus wonders why Marcel hasn't given Elijah back. "Perhaps your young witch has grown partial to his company," he suggests. "You never stop, do you?" Marcel asks, smiling a shark's smile. While they down their drinks, Klaus gets Marcel to talk about how he met Davina. To Klaus's surprise, Marcel used to get along quite well with the witches, and with one witch in particular...
