Why is he there? In fact, why are they all there? This ridiculous summarizing of the plot is so inane and unnecessary. Blah drama, blah weak writing blah. Yes, Rebecca understands, she knows she's got to "get" Kelly; blah Father Gosse is still the key blah. "If he won't give us anything to attack her with on cross, he's going to prison." Because it's up to the husband to attack the wife. You know, that's right, we're missing the key to this puzzle; the wife did it, because the wife always does it on this freaking show.
