The Miller Residence Where The Police Instigate The Pain. The residence is crawling with cops. One of them stops Ellenor from progressing inside until after she's shown him her identification badge. A couple of nameless uniformed extras lead the brothers, who are handcuffed, out of the house, across the lawn, and toward the car. Ellenor, as they glide past her, insists, "Say nothing. Don't say a word. That goes for both of you! I'll meet you at the police station." She walks toward Hunky DA, who's holding out a warrant to greet Ellenor's open hands. "What is this?" It's an arrest warrant: murder for Stephen, possession of a controlled substance for Terrence. Ellenor wants to know where the search warrant is. Hah! That's Hunky's trick. There isn't one. Because there were exigent circumstances surrounding the arrest, there wasn't time to get one. Ellenor scrunches her eyes as much as she can, despite their being held hostage by those eyebrows. "This arrest is a pretext so you can search his house." Ha. So there, Hunky DA -- she's figured you all out. Alan doesn't take the bait: "We believe that the older brother committed a murder, accordingly --" Ellenor cuts him off so she can remind him that he did have Stephen in his custody, and then she wants to know why the hell he didn't arrest the boy then. She gives Mike a dirty look. He just stands there, looking uncomfortable. Alan paddles: "We decided not to arrest, and then we changed our minds." Then Ellenor starts threatening: "I'm going to have this kicked so fast!" Alan baits back, "You do what you've got to do, Ellenor." Damn. Hunky DA takes "masculine" to all new heights. He's the Ernest Hemingway of primetime. Ellenor screams, "Why are your men still in there?" Her hand sweeps toward the residence. "Both of your suspects are in custody." Alan explains that it's a protective sweep of the house, for safety's sake. Ha! Ellenor knows the score; she accuses them of looking for the gun, and then she accuses them of prosecutorial misconduct. Only Hunky DA is really not thrown by her anger or her threats: "Ellenor." He looks at her with those smoldering eyes. "Why don't you go back to your office and draft your motion to dismiss." Pause. "That's what you do. We'll do what we do, okay?" Holy cow, Ellenor just let it go already? But no, she continues on -- blah she hopes there is a gun, blah because then she can suppress it, blah rest assured it'll never come into evidence blah. Alan, trying for the third time to walk away from her, responds with a witty, "Well, there you go." Ellenor continues to seethe like a fire burning underground.
