Jimmy opens the door and timidly enters the office. After closing the door, he asks Lucy if Bobby or Eugene is around. She replies that Rod is with a client, but Eugene's in his office, and turns back to her paperwork.
Jimmy "Shame And Sensitivity" Berluti crawls into Eugene's office. At first, Eugene tries not to hear him, but Jimmy continues talking anyway. He reports that he's joined Gambler's Anonymous, winning the prize for the shortest habit in history, where he attends three meetings per week. Blah also going to a regular therapist, blah he's kicked his habit, blah. Following one of his obvious Twelve Steps, Jimmy wants to apologize to The Firm. Eugene snaps, "That can't happen." Blah they don't know about the problem, blah if they do find out they're obligated to report him, blah. Jimmy is willing to accept his penance if that's what Eugene and Bobby decide to do. Except that no one wants him to confess, because everyone would keep his secret and become potentially liable. "If you really want to protect them here, do not tell." Jimmy nods and says okay. Then he asks if he and Eugene are "okay." In not so many words and accompanied by the Not-So-Okay Symphony, Eugene responds, "Do I forgive you. Yes. Am I going to help you anyway I can. Maybe. But are we okay, like everything is back to normal. No." Blah he doesn't trust the Lump blah. Jimmy thinks that's a pretty big loss, and Eugene insists that it's his loss too, whether or not that ever occurred to the Lump. Wah, wah, wah, and wah.
Bobby's Office Where They Mediate Pain. JC is there with his mother. With his jacket off and his hands intact, Bobby sits down in front of JC, explaining that if he really is Chad Baldwin, the truth will come out. Ellenor reminds Allison Tucker that she'll be considered a suspect. Blah she kept the child, blah she never contacted the police, blah she'll be considered an accessory after the fact. Allison: "I thought he was Pearce's son." Well, even if that does turn out to be the truth, hiding from the police will only make them think Allison is lying. Allison: "So what are you suggesting we do?" If JC is the Baldwins' long lost son, Bobby wants to go to the DA and make a deal. He'll spin the big wheel, and Ellenor will turn the letters. Rod's also hopeful that the DA's office will give Allison "Oops, I Stole Your Baby" Tucker immunity in exchange for John Pearce on a platter. JC whines, "Can you promise she'll be protected?" No. Rod might be mighty, but he's certainly not on the DA's payroll. Lucy interrupts their meeting to tell the Emperor that the lab is on the line. Cue wallowing, willowy, watery music as Bobby jumps up and picks up the phone. "Send me the report." Pause. "Thank you." Pause. "Well, it seems you're Chad Baldwin." All of you out there who didn't see this coming, please raise your hands. Right. Absolutely no one; that's what I thought. It's a wonder of all wonders that JC is, in fact, Chad Baldwin. Yawn. Cough. Splutter. Yawn. Damn bronchitis.
