So there's the teams, and let me pause to comment on them. I'm actually pretty pleased with the selection. It's a nice mix of people I generally like (Heather B., Piggy, Holly, Dan, Kat, Yes) and people I love to rip on (Teck, Amaya, David, Veronica). I did watch the first season of Road Rules, but I don't have any feelings about Los, and the same goes for Mike. And I've erased any nicknames (i.e. Annoying) and I'm giving people a fresh chance, but don't feel like that means you have to do the same.
The helicopters approach a really tall building that has a helipad on top. I don't think I've ever had the opportunity to use "helipad" in a sentence before. There are some Chippendales types guys standing there with the black pants, no shirt, bow tie thing going on. After the helicopters land, the Chippendales guy carry the team members out of the helicopter and then lead them (because they're still blindfolded) over to a certain spot. A Chippendales guy who looks exactly like Mark Harmon tells them they can remove their blinders now, and they all start hugging and shaking each other's hands, or introducing themselves if they haven't met.
A limousine pulls up and the Chippendales guys roll out a red carpet. David wonders what's going on. The door swings open and Gladys from Road Rules Latin America steps out, looking fine in a vinyl jumpsuit. She is escorted by the Chippendales guys, and David cracks me up by saying, "Hey, look at Gladys Knight and the pimps!" Holly tells us that Gladys is Ms. Big, and we see a flashback to her beating up Abe as Holly finishes up -- "Like all the other Bigs, she got kicked off."
Gladys welcomes them and tells them it's going to be more outrageous than last year. Each mission is worth ten thousand E*Trade dollars. She snaps her fingers and one of the Chippendales guys opens a briefcase holding the whole enchilada -- one hundred thousand E*Trade dollars. Kat says, "We're investing the money?" Teck explains to the viewers that E*Trade dollars are used for online investing. Gladys asks who in the group has bungee jumped before, and Dan raises his hand. I thought they did that almost every season on Road Rules, but I guess not. Gladys asks who would bungee jump for ten thousand E*Trade dollars, and they all raise their hands, although some a bit more tentatively than others. Gladys says that the bungee jump will have to take place off the Stratosphere Tower behind them, and it is really high. There is a plank that extends off the observation deck, from which they will jump. I have to tell you, I wouldn't even go up there, much less jump off it. Piggy looks worried.
