The roommates arrive in Nice. Ace interviews that it's his birthday, and that he's "as old as the hills." Ace says that this trip is making him realize how much of the world he hasn't seen. I thought he hated the world. Leah is still talking about Chris having missed the train. Christina interviews that when Chris is gone, everyone gets along better. Ace spots the ocean. Or the Mediterranean Sea, which he thinks is an ocean. The roommates get off the train, and Leah wishes Ace a happy birthday. Ace interviews that all he wants is for everyone to get along for one day. Various roommates exclaim that Nice is great. They arrive at their hotel. That's not exactly backpacking, is it? I thought they would be staying in hostels and sharing bathrooms.
Ace runs into some people in the hallway who seem to know him. He asks, "Who are you all?" It's Mallory's cousin and aunt, who are staying across the hall. Leah interviews that she thought it was a little bit too convenient. Who cares? Mallory says she heard her cousin's voice in the hallway. Mallory runs out and hugs them. Mallory interviews that it was a completely unplanned coincidence. Mallory's cousin says that they knew Mallory was in town, but that they never thought they would run into her.
Mallory, Christina, and Mallory's relatives go sit on the beach and paint the water. Mallory interviews that it was really relaxing. Christina tries to wade in the water, but it seems kind of cold. Mallory laughs at her.
Simon and Leah gossip back at the hotel. Simon thinks that the whole thing with Mallory's relatives is a bit shady. Leah is pissed off that Mallory is pretending that it's a coincidence. Simon says it's unfair that Mallory gets to see family while on vacation. Leah is pissed that Mallory lied. Simon gives Mallory the benefit of the doubt, but Leah says she would love for Pascual to be there too, so she's pissed. Seriously, who cares? I don't get why these two are so pissed. Unless Mallory blows them off every day for her family, but even then, I wouldn't care. Plus, aren't they only in Nice for, like, two days? And then Mallory can hang out with her roommates the rest of the time. I do enjoy seeing the troika of Mallory, Simon, and Leah turning against each other, though.
