Then, there was a montage of more singers who were perfectly good but didn't get picked. I don't "get" this show all the time.
I guess we're saving team spots and airtime for former Disney star Jordan Pruitt. She went on tour with all the stars like Miley Cyrus and Vanessa Hudgens and the Cheetah Girls, and she is so blessed you guyz omg. She left her record label because she wants to sing more mature music, and move on to "better opportunities like this." Like auditioning for a reality TV show that puts singers through something called "Battle Rounds"? Is this really better than singing about malls and sneakers and over-accessorizing?
She's still dressed like a Cheetah Girl. Jordan is also putting way too much weight on this audition. If there's one thing Jordan lacks, it's perspective. Christina turns around and it's the only thing that needed to happen. Christina compliments Jordan, with no idea that she, too, was from the House of Mouse. They're both, like, soooo excited and they love sequins and boys!
The final audition is 42-year old Terisa Griffin, who is very proud of her overbearing personality. Carson tells Terisa that "most people say" people of a certain age "should throw in the towel," in one of his least sensitive moments yet.
Terisa's family is definitely one of my favorites of the night. They're loud enough to make Carson slither into the background. Terisa chooses an Adele song, and she is really great. Blake is yelling at Christina, and Cee Lo and Adam hover over their buttons. Finally, Christina pushes her button, and Blake follows suit. Christina compliments Terisa cautiously, Blake just thinks Terisa is fantastic and should not be passed up on.
Terisa wins me over after the coach silliness, when she and Adam have a little banter, and Terisa asks the coaches what they would do for her. Christina has a better answer, and Terisa gets sassy. Then, in a surprise twist, Terisa chooses Blake, "because you were telling Christina what to do." I love that. Screw you, Christina, and your folding fan.
