Blake says he was a fan, but he wasn't into that song. Christina agrees that it was a bad song choice. Adam says he loved it, even though no one asked him. Cee Lo says that Adam's a ladykiller, so he gets what James is putting out. Cee Lo thinks his voice is natural, and he talks more about picking up girls.
We come back to a reunited Goodie Mob (featuring of course Cee Lo). They are doing a new single, "Fight to Win." Of course this means they need to wear gold plated gladiator costumes with capes. And it seems that Cee Lo and the other singers have something on their teeth that take whitening to the next level. Do they make grillz that are made out of white LEDs? Adam is super into it. That's two performances that Cee Lo had to do tonight. Quite the impressive burst of energy. Wonder if he'll be unconscious the rest of the show, or able to pick someone to send home?
Tony Lucca is up next, and he and Adam have a heart-to-heart about struggling forever to make it in the music industry. We flash back to Christina's hurtful comments about Tony being one-note, so they are breaking out. Adam says that Tony needs to reflect on his roots and not be afraid of them. We don't hear what song he's working on. Is he doing "Genie in a Bottle"? That'd be awesome.
Nope. But close! He's doing a very rock version of "Hit Me Baby (One More Time)." He could ditch the Jason Mraz hat. I'm about as sick of that as I am James Massone's headbands. There are some very busy backup dancers who take away from the stripped down nature of this cover. Maybe Adam does need to pay more attention to the staging here, because this is pretty terrible. The crowd is absolutely insane, and refuses to calm down, even at Carson's encouragement. He says it is like "Bieber loud."
Christina would like to get Britney and Justin and do a Mickey Mouse Club reunion, because she has to make it all about her. She does say she enjoyed it. Christina is still rattling on when Carson cuts to Blake. Blake laughs about Christina's talking and then says that Tony was very smart to do this song. Blake even hates Adam a little bit for doing it. We skip Cee Lo again, which makes me think he's not as good about Adam about getting back to judging after performing. Probably needed a power nap and a snack. Adam says they waffled about it, but he's so glad that he embraced it and went with it. Christina is still talking, but without her mic pumped up, so we thankfully can't hear her hyping her own former career.
