It's a Mann's World

Another performance. No elimination first? It's last year's winner, Javier Colon singing "A Drop in the Ocean," and playing piano. It's perfectly fine in that Train/Five for Fighting/Gavin DeGraw sort of way. Which is to say not something I'm going to be running out to buy.

Time for Erin's dreams to be shattered on her birthday. We see a cute backstage moment from last night, where she's interviewing about getting into the emotion of the song and Blake comes by and gives her a big kiss on the head. It's cute. Not enough to save her, I'm guessing, but cute nonetheless. Blake respects Jermaine for leaving his cushy backup singer job, and credits Erin for dealing with the death of her father during the course of this show. He calls them two of the best vocalists on the planet. Not this show. Not even on reality television. The PLANET. As in all of Earth. Overstatement much? Blake gave them 50/50. I expected more from him, actually. Though he admits he doesn't really want to be part of the decision making process, which is honest at least. Yikes. Erin gets killed, as she only gets 27 of America's points, while he gets 73. That's quite the landslide. It's also unfortunate that she's dressed like a Christmas ornament on her way out the door. Complete with a string of tinsel in her hair. It's not a look for an adult. But she does say she's planning on going to get drunk for her birthday. Good plan! I'm sure Blake will buy the first round.

Backstage with Christina, Javier says nice things about Juliet. Juliet just cries. Cee Lo goes with the stock response about how they are both amazing. He loved them from the sound of their voice during the blind audition, and he says that they've both got talent and he's grateful that he got to coach them. Cee Lo gave 40 to Jamar and 60 to Juliet. They are both in tears as Cee Lo explains himself. He says he went solely on last night's performances. It sucks that he and Adam had to really justify the fact that they had an honest opinion. He does say that he couldn't completely hear Jamar (see, he needs mic training), so he had to go with that. Or something. He honestly talks for like 20 minutes. I can't even. Juliet gets 121 points total, and a landslide win with 61 points from America. Jamar's grateful he made it as far as he did.

Next week, the FINALS! It's Tony Lucca, Juliet Simms, Chris Mann and Jermaine Paul. I guess I'm rooting for Jermaine? I suppose? I know I'm rooting against Chris Mann, for sure. Two more nights. Even I can survive that!
