Christina Milian. Trending. Supportive parents. Jermaine's family. Proud too, and they all coordinated their outfits.
Blake is performing now, because apparently we had time to kill? He's doing his new song "Once." It's... a Blake song. For me that means I'll listen to it when I hear it on the radio or whatever, but not like it enough to go download it. He's got some issues about looking in the cameras when he's singing, but he's staring at the ladies in the audience who seem quite taken with him. Good for him. I guess.
My personal favorite, Lindsay Pavao, is next. She is hoping to prove she isn't one-dimensional. Her parents said it was a challenge to get her to perform in front of people. And she's doing "Skinny Love" by Bon Iver. I don't know that it is really out of the box for her, but I think that sort of music is really what she does best. Christina (who has clearly never heard this song) says it is a good choice and people really connect with it. Lindsay says she's overwhelmed to even be here, and she'd very much like to stay performing and not return to barista-ing.
She's playing acoustic guitar, and has taken Christina's note to get as close to the mic as possible. Maybe Xtina could help out Jamar. She does this really well, though I almost feel like the guitar is a distraction, as she doesn't really look much at the cameras and kind of stares off in every other direction... but at least she's not staring at the floor like usual. I think that would be fine for most of her career, but as a vote-getting tactic, it's not the greatest. Still, she really nails the song and I still love her.
Cee Lo says he's not into "skinny love," he's into big love. Hearty chuckles all around. He's glad that she was up to the mic, as it works with her shy and innocent vocals. Adam is just really happy with the entire last eight and so thrilled by the diversity of this show. He actually says, "I love this show." Someone's hoping for a big raise. Blake credits Christina with bringing Lindsay back to her original music, so that we could remember why we fell in love with her. Christina talks about why she's a big fan (then some paid Xtina fans shout that they love her), she loves the coffeehouse feel of this performance, and then gets up and hugs her. I somehow didn't notice before that Christina forgot to wear pants today. I suppose you have the luxury when you are sitting down for most of the show.
