This rendition re-sends the message that Amanda Brown wants to be a rock artist. But does she? Do we know yet? Regardless, this is sounding sort of like a cover of a Kings of Leon version. To drive the "rock" aspect home, Amanda is wearing a very long, sheer vest. It's a fresh take on the song, though, and I'm glad they went this way. The way Adam is watching Amanda as she performs, could not be creepier. It is far too intense, far too invested. It seems like Adam might make a very long, sheer vest out of Amanda.
Blake likes the performance, because Amanda is "a rocker, and you can't deny that." Christina is fighting in the name of Dez, and tells Amanda they're still struggling to find the magic she found with "Dream On." She just doesn't get it, and she's bitter about it. Cee Lo appreciates Amanda's bravery. Adam is proud of himself for having the idea to change up an Adele song, turning it into the song he has always wanted it to be.
Outgoing Arkansas singer Cody Belew sings next, and he's singing "Somebody to Love" by Queen. He has studied Freddie Mercury, and it's a great choice. I think it will go better than Team Adam's group performance of a Queen song, though it may stir less activity in my nether-regions than Adam Levine singing Freddie Mercury. Cody, in case you haven't guessed yet, is slowly coming out to America, but not officially. He does see Freddie Mercury as an idol, though, and had a hard time in Nashville.
This song is the perfect fit for Cody. He sounds great on it, and looks great. This performance, like very few things in this world outside the new Dance Moms promo, makes me happy. Cody, a gospel choir, and a white piano? I'm about as happy as The Voice can make me. Cody ends with tears in his eyes, and gets compliments from Adam Levine, who is also, for everyone's information, a "scholar of Freddie Mercury." Blake brings up Cody's first moments on this show, and is typically useless as a coach. Christina offers to hang out with Cody after the show is over, because the girl needs her gays if "Lotus" is going to go anywhere. Cee Lo compliments Cody on his confidence and ease on stage. Cee Lo is the best coach.
Before the show can continue its positive forward momentum, we have to check in with Christina Milian, her gaudy dress, and the Sprint Skybox, where fun goes to die. She lured Cody, Amanda, and Trevin into it to tell them that Amanda Brown, 50 Cent, and Adam Levine, are all trending on Twitter right now. This is the biggest accomplishment anyone can hope for in this economy, to be trending on Twitter. Christina Milian asks Cody and Amanda about their friendship, which was inevitable.
