Following Team Blake is Team Levine's chance to shine. Adam pits Javier Colon, the father of two who did a sweet rendition of "Time After Time" against Angela Wolf the girl who made the fatal error of singing a Miranda Lambert song during the first round of the blind auditions, but was able to redeem herself with a better song choice and make it to Adam's team during the sloppy seconds round. They will be singing "Stand By Me," which sounds great for Javier and terrible for Angela. I mean, you can't really wail on that song, although I'm sure she will find a way. They head to the rehearsal room to meet Maroon 5's musical director Adam Blackstone who apparently wasn't invited to the Maroon 5 dinner on Top Chef Masters which is unfortunate because he probably could have put away a bunch of Team Blue's turkey. I guess he's not bitter about that slight, because he still helps coach the pair. They tell Javier to dial down the runs and try not to sing too much. That sounds like really shitty advice, but what do I know, I'm not a professional singer for a band so famous that they get to be guest judges on such an illustrious competition as Top Chef Masters. By the way, ladies, gay men, Adam Levine likes steak and Japanese food. TMYK rainbows!
Without much ado at all the competition starts and ...well, there's not much competition. Javier is amazing and blows poor little sloppy seconds Angela out of the water. Blake Shelton compliments Angela's looks, because that's what you do when you don't know what else to say, right? But his heart belongs to Javier. So does Christina's and Cee Lo's, but Cee Lo actually says something kind about her talent and how she can co-exist with Javier. Co-exist like a little tiny honeybee co-exists with the giant ball of fire called the sun. Carson makes them all hold hands again, because he's not getting enough affection at home? He misses Tara Reid? Whatever the reason, Javier, Carson, and Angela hold hands as Adam drags out his decision as long as possible before the network cuts him (not literally, sadly). He hems and haws on and on because he is an attention whore and we aren't suffering enough. Then he chooses Javier, because: Duh.
Last but not at all least is Team Christina. Christina is wearing the same (?) skin-tight Minnie Mouseketeer polka dot dress she was wearing last week. I think. And Cee Lo was wearing the same all red ensemble he was wearing last week, but I just assume he has a walk in closet filled with nothing but racks of red Sean John sweatsuit shorts and oversized Hanes His Way red tees. So, do they film all the rehearsals one day and then all the competitions the next day, but then cut them up and shuffle them and think we aren't going to notice? I guess there's no reason we are supposed to think this competition lasted weeks and weeks, but it's a bit odd to come back each week and see the judges wearing the same outfits like it's an all cast walk of shame.
