Triumph of the Underdogs

I really liked when Cee Lo turned to Christina and asked, "what did you think, Chris?" and she agreed that she would pick Diego, to which he said, "how we got so much in common me and you? That's so cool!"

Alright, let's get to Christina, Billie Joe, and that vast, white room. The first pairing is De'borah versus Nelly's Echo. Nelly's Echo is from Nigeria, and De'borah has glasses. The thing I like most about De'borah so far is that she finds inspiration in everything. She chose Christina because she liked the song "The Voice Within" that she sang, and she was really inspired by Green Day's "American Idiot" album. She just loves everything. Nelly's Echo is singing "Message in a Bottle" very easily, and De'borah is just appreciating the crap out of it. She grew up in church, which is basically like Peru, in terms of what '80s songs you hear.

De'borah is far less confident going into the final rehearsal. But she has great personal style. But Nelly's Echo seems a little unstable in the actual battle. He's sharp, and singing all over the place. I think De'borah actually sounds better than Nelly; I like the way she's personalizing it, and she's bringing the fire. Cee Lo calls De'borah the clear winner.

I laughed out loud when, during Adam's comment about people being accepted for who they are, De'borah's father went, "that's right!" like he was in church. De'borah, and her family, are the clear winners to me.

Christina chooses De'borah, and I am almost as delighted as her family. But actually, no one is as delighted as De'borah's family. What is with Adam's extremely personal connection to De'borah all of a sudden? He hugged her emotionally and said he was so happy she made it. No one steals Nelly's Echo because they are all distracted by Christina's awful dress. We have to do weeks with this dress?

The Battle Rounds continue with Blake's next pairing: 2Steel Girls versus Gracia Harrison. 2Steel Girls are the mother-daughter duo, and Gracia Harrison yodels. Blake chose "Sin Wagon" by the Dixie Chicks for them to throw down to. Are we still mad at the Dixie Chicks?

The day-before rehearsal, Gracia is struggling, and the mother in 2Steel Girls has gained confidence, after being the weak link on day one. Blake notes that the duo isn't meshing together yet. Their outfits look good, though, for the battle. I wonder who put Gracia in that cotton candy dress?
