Because AlyX lacks personality, and/or can't drive, Jermaine gets to do the product placement car with voicemail in it. He gets a call from his daughter, and just beams about it. AlyX would have been a sourpuss if she'd gotten the weekly Miranda Lambert message. AlyX is wearing a dress that she stole from Tracy Turnblad's closet, and this is not a girl that needs to be shopping at the Hefty Hideaway. Jermaine looks dapper and cool, even with a hat, which I normally disapprove of. He gets the audience clapping their hands, and gets his flirt on with Christina. AlyX does this odd vibrato thing on one note halfway through the song, which makes me dislike her even more than her ridiculously capitalized name. AlyX ends the song with, "Sometimes you've just got to say, 'What the hell.'" Saying it and doing it are two different things.
Christina goes with Jermaine, obviously, with the flirting. Cee Lo also gives love to Jermaine. Adam thinks that Jermaine kicked this songs ass. Blake says that AlyX did try and have fun, and she robotically thanks him. Blake picks Jermaine, given that Jermaine specifically asked for a mentor who would keep him around, this isn't a big shock. Christina says she's jealous that Blake has Jermaine on his team.
Stop trying to make your stupid hashtags happen, Christina Milian!
Team Adam puts Angel Taylor (who got all the guys fighting for her) against Katrina Parker (the insurance worker who was "surprised" in her office by Carson), and gives the "Bleeding Love." As they get their inner Leona Lewis on, Adam advises them to avoid vocal aerobics, and wants more vulnerability. Leona Lewis is nothing but vocal aerobics. It's how she won the UK's X Factor. Robin Thicke likes Angel, but wants to feel her passion. Katrina flips to meet Alanis. They both think she's great, but she wants tips on how to get past her nerves without wrecking the first verse. She's so happy just to be singing again, and Alanis is clearly impressed by her vocals.
I actually don't hate either of these girls, and that's refreshing for a change. I do hate that the costume folks decided that because Katrina was a curvy blonde that they had to dress her up like she's Adele. She looks cute and all, but I liked her hair the way it was. Katrina gets the opening notes, and she doesn't seem nervous at all. I want Angel's dress so much. Oh, and she sounds pretty amazing, though at times she seems like Katrina's backup singer.
Blake likes the break in Angel's voice, but has to give the win to Katrina. Christina doesn't think the song was a great showcase for Angel, and says that Katrina reminded her of Adele. Cee Lo thinks that Angel looked uncomfortable, and he picks Katrina. Adam tries to envelop himself in his giant sweater. I guess that explains why he was wearing it. He liked Katrina's power and Angel's uniqueness, and doesn't want to make this decision. The audience tries to help, but they are ineffective in their screaming. He looks pained to pick Katrina. This show might give him an ulcer. Angel is extremely gracious.
