Funeral Home. Bodie waits in a chapel (right next to the deceased, hee hee). Shamrock waits alone in another chapel. The garage guys sit in some kind of tiled anteroom. After a moment, Shamrock utters a "shit."
Upstairs, a guy counts cash, while Stringer Bell stands over him, in an ill-advised Cosby sweater the colour of Gulden's mustard. After a moment, a beefy dude enters and confirms with Stringer that the Philadelphia Four are sticking to their story so far.
Stringer calls out the henchman who's watching the garage guys; he asks whether they got the times and the mileage right, which they did. Stringer heads off, with tea. I would think it's some kind of decaf green or chamomile or that Tummymint shit. My boy doesn't need to get all jittery.
In one chapel, Stringer runs through the story with Shamrock "one more time": "You never saw him out the car?" Shamrock says he didn't, and that he stayed with Bodie the whole time. Stringer asks how long Bodie was on his own in the parking garage; Shamrock shorthands it as "not enough time to do shit, String" -- about three minutes, by his estimate.
In his chapel, Bodie tells himself to "chill," leaping up as soon as Stringer enters, saying that "this shit is fucked up." He asks a painfully nervous Bodie whether he followed the directions (yes) and wrote down the mileage (yes, and Bodie gives Stringer his notebook to show him). Comparing Bodie's number to the one he got off one of the henchmen, Stringer tells Bodie, peering over his glasses, that Bodie is "3/10 of a mile long," and wouldn't be if he'd followed the directions he was given. He walks out in a cloud of henchmen, and we see the Bodie's-eye view as Stringer heads out to the lobby, where he hooks up with the guys in the black SUV. Bodie looks around shiftily, trying to think about anyone he might like notified in the totally unlikely event of his untimely death, and then Stringer returns, taking his tea back from Bodie's hand. He takes a slurpy sip of his drink and then stares over his glasses at Bodie, asking, "You got answers?" Bodie, looking clammy, shakes his head. Stringer: "You didn't have to take a detour in Camden when they shut down a couple of block of the boulevard?" Bodie squints, not getting how Stringer could know that. Stringer further wonders whether Bodie hurt his foot when he kicked that tire jack, finally tilting the left corner of his mouth upward in a mischievous smirk. Bodie finally gets it: "You was on us the whole time?" "Who, me?" cracks Stringer. He heads out, very pleased with himself (as who wouldn't be), Bodie calling after him, wanting to know where the stash is. The stash is in your mind, young Jedi.
