He figures this is a good time to check his messages, and we hear Elena's voice, changing the scheduling for McNulty's next visitation with the kids because Sean has a birthday party to attend. Then Bunk comes on, ordering, "Omar by the end of the week, Jimmy. Ilene is on the warpath. Motherfucker, I am serious." He certainly sounds serious. The next message is from someone at Dr. Halpern's office, telling McNulty he missed his six-month cleaning this week. If this receptionist could see the state of the room McNulty's sitting in as he listens to her, she would realize what a low priority McNulty probably considers his dental hygiene. The next message is from Ilene Nathan, but he doesn't sit through her entire rant before snapping it off and falling back on the bed with the grunt of a much older man.
