"Come At The King, You Best Not Miss"

Kima and Carver have stopped Day-Day's town car. They get out of their car, guns drawn, and tell Day-Day to get out of his car. As Carver has Day-Day assume the position, Kima peers into the front seat, sees the bag, and comes around the car to tell Day-Day, "You were observed in one of the city's designated drug-free, anti-loitering zones, where a drug suspect leaned into your vehicle, handing you something. And when we signaled for you to stop, you leaned over as if attempting to conceal something between the passenger-side seat." Day-Day protests that there's nothing under the seat. "Then you don't mind if we take a look, right?" asks Carver. "Fuck y'all," says the eminently confident Day-Day. "This is some bullshit." Kima takes the bag out, puts it on the roof of the car, and opens it to find it full of bundled bills. She shoots Day-Day a smug look; Carver raises his eyebrows, plainly shocked that it's not drugs. Day-Day, less belligerent now, quietly says that the money's none of their business. Carver wants to make it his business, though, and cuffs Day-Day, leading him to their car. Day-Day probably knows someone who can afford a good lawyer, I'm thinking.

McNulty consults a notepad to double-check the plate number on Stringer's loaner Camry and the address to which it officially belongs. He's in a tidy neighbourhood, with kids' toys on nicely landscaped front lawns. But before he can delve too deeply into the incongruity of Stringer's having a friend who lives here, he gets a page, and takes off. Suspense!

Narcotics unit. McNulty finds Carver and Kima, giggling in their cube. "You rang?" smirks McNulty, and they point to a glassed-in room, in which Day-Day paces nervously. McNulty doesn't recognize him, and Carver reads off his ID that his name is "Damien Lavell Price." He tosses it to McNulty as Kima and Carver recap the events that brought them here. "He's a legislative aide?" McNulty asks incredulously, looking at Day-Day's ID, but before they can get into it, Daniels shows up, asking who paged him. McNulty hands Daniels Day-Day's ID, and Carver says he's in Daniels's office, and that he was arrested with $20,000 in cash. "What kind of PC?" asks Daniels, shocked. "Right off the wire," says Kima proudly. "We thought we were gonna come up with drugs. Got money instead." Looking at the ID, Daniels smirks, "I know this guy." He heads in to talk to him as McNulty frowns, wondering how Daniels and Day-Day could possibly know each other.
