Cop shop. Rawls and Foerster seem to have just left their awesome meeting. "Have your people deal with Daniels," Foerster tells Rawls, who agrees. Then, for some reason, we get a security-cam shot of the two in a weirdly small elevator, in which they say and do nothing. Okay. "You gonna send your man McNulty?" Foerster asks. Rawls nods. "Tell him about chain of command," Foerster advises. Rawls looks like he's itching to flip some birds as he replies, "Tell him yourself; he's dead to me." Poor McNulty will be just crushed.
Low-rises. D'Angelo makes his way to a couch in the middle of a courtyard, on which Bodie (J.D. Williams) already sits, chewing his lips and squinting at the new arrival. Bodie calls to D'Angelo that Ronnie Mo is "uptown," if that's whom he's looking for. "I know," says D'Angelo sadly. So "851" is...promoted? I don't know. Wallace (Michael B. Jordan) and Poot (Tray Chaney) roll up at this moment, pulling snaps; Bodie correctly identifies D'Angelo by his nickname, Dee. "Wasn't you in the towers?" asks Wallace, poking the bruise. "Yeah," sighs D'Angelo. Wallace asks why they put him down in the low-rises: "You mess with the count or something?" D'Angelo takes a dramatic pause before declaring, "I killed a nigger." Ooooooh. That's not really an exclusive fraternity you're in, there, guy. Bodie's pager goes off. D'Angelo, looking pissed, starts to stroll around his new campus.
Daniels enters Foerster's office, where he's asked how much they have on Barksdale, counting what they got from the DEA. Foerster's holding the file, which contains but four pages: "Rawls had a fucking phone book." Daniels counters that Homicide had "ten open murder files": "If we had ten shots at him, we'd have more than a fat file." Foerster says that he made that point upstairs. Well, so why are you bitching at Daniels, then? Daniels complains that, not being able to make a case on the Barksdale crew, Homicide's getting Narcotics to take him down. "Not 'getting,' they got us," Foerster corrects. "They got you, in fact." Daniels is to pick some of the people from his squad and hook up with Homicide for a task force, and to involve the State's Attorney as well. Daniels opens the door. "Fucking shitstorm," Foerster spits. Daniels, as usual, holds his peace.
Outside Foerster's office, Carver tells Daniels he has a phone call: "Deputy Ops."
In a sad (though sunny) alley, Bubbles (Andre Royo) is using a pocket knife to cut out photocopied ten-dollar bills. Guy, the least you could do to make them convincing is copy them in colour. He hands the knife to Johnny (Leo Fitzpatrick), and then pours a little coffee onto the counterfeit and sort of muddles it around to "give it that money feel, so it don't seem so white." Johnny chuckles appreciatively. Oh, junkie logic. Johnny gives Bubbles a real $10, as Bubbles folds the two together. Putting the BLACK ink next to the green doesn't really camouflage the ruse, but okay.
