In the front yard, Scully -- appearing no worse for having her head bashed in -- gives the police the lowdown on the Eve, warning them that she's armed, dangerous, and severely psychotic. Meanwhile, Mulder comforts Mrs. Reardon, telling her that it's unlikely Kendrick will kill Cindy. "We'll find her," he says. Mrs. Reardon stumbles off in tears. "Then what do we do?" Scully asks Mulder, over his shoulder. He doesn't seem to have an answer to that question.

Point Reyes National Seashore, forty miles north of San Francisco. Kendrick and Cindy pull up at a small motel in an entirely different car. They climb out of the car and silently enter one of the rooms. The dude raking leaves in the front yard stares at them thoughtfully.

Inside, Kendrick takes off her cape/hood combo and sighs. "I'm sorry you have to meet this way, but it's best for all concerned," she says, taking Cindy to the bathroom, where she has Teena all dressed up like Little Red Riding Hood. "Cindy, meet Teena," Kendrick says. The girls stare at one another and then allow themselves tiny, creepy Mona Lisa smiles.

Reardon household. Scully's talking to a police officer, who informs her that they found Kendrick's car at the airport. Mulder chatters to someone on his cell phone. Scully tells the cop to check the passenger lists of every flight going out of SFO -- every single one -- and to make sure to look around each and every terminal in case Kendrick is hiding out and waiting for a later flight. Scully's so smart. She finishes with the officer as Mulder gets off the phone. He tells her that they've found a woman matching Sally Kendrick's description at a hotel in Point Reyes. Scully's all, no, we found the car at the airport. Mulder is all, she totally could have ditched the car, dude! He explains to Scully that the owner of the motel took particular notice of Sally Kendrick; he saw her check in with a little girl, leave without the child, and then return with her. That guy's got some eye for detail! He could work here at Mighty Big TV. His handle could be, like, Leaf Raker Man. ["Hee! He could recap gardening shows." -- Wing Chun] Scully makes some weak argument about someone else picking up the little girl and then.... "He remembers this kid," Mulder interrupts. "She told him he should use chlorine to eliminate the dinophagellates in his swimming pool. Sound like someone you know?" Scully is all, good point. They jump in the car and head for Point Reyes.
