As the doctor heads for the door, Scully scampers down the hall and ducks into a room to hide. She turns, and finds herself in a room that is lined with jars containing babies. Dead babies. Strange, deformed, alien babies. Babies with two heads. Babies with six arms. Weird, alien-looking babies. Again proving that she and I are very, very different, Scully does not scream like a banshee and trip over her own small feet in a frantic rush to get the hell out of there, and to somewhere safe, like, say, The Gap. Instead, she glides closer to the jars and stares at the babies, a fascinated and not at all horrified look on her face. The door swings open behind her to reveal the doctor from the exam room. "Who are you? What are you doing here?" he asks. Scully looks around, grasping for a viable excuse. "I'm here with my friend," she says lamely. "You're here with Miss Hendershot?" Scully, glad that the doctor was nice enough to give her a name, assents, and tells him that she's worried about her. The doctor looks sternly at Scully, and assures her that Miss Hendershot is just fine, but that she, Scully, Miss Nosey AlienBaby, needs to wait in the reception area.
Scully's Lonely Apartment. Little Miss All Alone in the World shuts her door and just stands there, breathing hard. She goes immediately to the phone and calls her OB/GYN, Dr. Parenti. As she waits for his service to answer the phone, she looks at her ultrasound, then Anne's, then hers, then Anne's. The service tells her that Dr. Parenti is out, but that he can be reached if it's an emergency Scully breathlessly says that it is an emergency. She stares at the photographs while she waits. When Parenti gets on the line, she tells him that she's afraid. She wants him to look at an ultrasound right away. Calmly, Dr. Parenti tells her to send it to the office, and he'll compare it to her own, if that's what she wants. Scully breathes a minor sigh of relief. "Are you okay?" Parenti asks. Scully says that she is. Parenti reassures her that he will get back to her as soon as he's looked at the photographs. Scully closes her eyes, and hangs up the phone. As the camera pulls back from Parenti, we see that he's in the Dead Alien Babies in Jars room at Zeus Genetics. He puts away his cell phone and gets back to work, unwrapping a small, dead, green alien fetus. Interesting.
