Scully waits outside the Federal Statistics Center. Doggett knocks on her window and tells her to get out of there. She can't do that to Mulder; she can't abandon him again, the way she did when she let them bury him alive. Doggett admits that he may have set them up -- accidentally, of course. "I'll explain later," he says. Scully gives him a primo eyebrow, making up for the lack of eyebrows thus far, and shirtly informs him that he'll explain it to her right fucking now.
The Gunmen do some GunmenMagic and break Mulder and his Black Bomber Jacket of Government Office Infiltration into the FSC, with their usual allotment of wacky banter.
Doggett watches from outside. For, like, a hundred years. Then he runs toward the building.
The Gunmen direct Mulder to the database room. After more requisite hacking hijinks, they break him into the room and direct him to the computer, where he enters the security code and gets access to the files. "Let's do some emailing," he says. Just at that moment, Doggett appears at the door, knocking and screaming for Mulder to get out. Mulder petulantly ignores him. Doggett shoots out the door and races inside, telling Mulder that he's trying to save him! Mulder accuses Doggett of attempting to cover stuff up. Doggett protests that he doesn't even know what's in the files! Mulder retorts that he's about to, along with a lot of other people who are being tracked by the government, who have been targeted by their genetic profile for abduction and replacement by alien facsimiles! Doggett tells Mulder that there's no way that information will ever make it out of the FCS. Mulder asks Doggett if he's planning on shooting him. Meaningful stares. Whatever.
