Title card: "SCALES." At a giant ship called Lady Luck, a couple of shipping goons vow not to stare. Vinnie Jones shows up, and his skin is all scaly. He verifies that a teddy bear has a canister in it. The goons are pulled into the darkness, then The Cape rushes out... to get pummeled by Scales. Soon, the Cape is wrapped in chains and tossed into the water. Then he wakes up, I guess, because he's struggling underwater. Quick-hit flashbacks. We hear Max talking about how escape artists trust their training. Vince climbs up out of the water and pulls his hood back on. Scales is getting people to do their job. Someone takes pictures of Vince. They run down an empty hallway, and Vince uses a cape move to knock over a gumball machine in front of the other person. It's Summer Glau! And it's probably Orwell!

They pull up to a place that you enter via a big garage door. Looks like the apartment in TRON LEGACY. Orwell runs Vince's fingerprints on her implausible giant invisible-screened computer (that she uses via one of those laser keyboards), and then she offers to help him "Together we can scare him. Together we can take this city back.

Marty calls Peter to tell him that Max Malini is probably the guy robbing the banks. Peter wants him brought to the Lady Luck. He's wearing the Chess contacts.

Max is tied to a chair. He's apparently been pummeled more than somewhat. Scales prepares to rip Max's arms off. No, he just punches him. Max thinks that was weak, and he slips the ropes and vanishes in a puff of smoke. But Scale sees him climbing the stairs and manages to hit him with a gunshot before he escapes.

Rollo calls Vince, and Vince sets out to save Max. Orwell hands Vince an ear-thing so she can be Oracle for him. Max stumbles through the boat's hallways, leaving a bloody handprint on a wall. Scales runs across Rollo and makes a Wizard of Oz reference. Rollo busts Scales's knee with a wrench, then blasts him in the head. Scales is insensible on the floor. Rollo leaves, saying, "Say hello to Dorothy, bitch."

Max finds two goons. Vince drops in and flings both goons against the wall, knocking them out instantly. Then Max has a touching death speech. But it turns out he's not dead.
