Title Card: "THE LICH" At the circus, Vince feels Janet for a pulse. In the neck, so calm down. On the issue of what could be wrong with her, Rollo says it's witchcraft, but Max says it was a drug. Something, he claims, that is popular in sub-Saharan Africa, "especially in Haiti." Hey, here's something interesting: Haiti is right near North America, between Cuba and Puerto Rico. Sub-Saharan Africa, on the other hand, is on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. And a bit south, too. Basically, Haiti and sub-Saharan Africa are two different things, thousands of miels apart. Just thought I'd mention that. Anyway, according to Max, Janet's condition was brought about by a neurotoxin, which I shall refer to as Voodoo Dust. It mimics death for a while, and then it makes the victim so suggestible they'll do anything they're told. Meanwhile, Vince wants to talk about The Lich, which is the name each precinct has for its weirdo ritual murder file. And there are rumors about a cult, which wouldn't surprise me a bit. Rollo says that he's heard about a guy with a corpse face. Vince thinks Janet needs a doctor, but Max says she needs a surgeon. Vince: "Surgeon? What kind of surgeon?" Ruvi, from nowhere: "Surgeon of the mind!" He rolls up his sleeves and prepares to hypnotize.

Dana is leaving work and is waylaid by coworkers who want to get her liquored-up. Trip is staying over at a friend's (I guess it's the kid he met last episode, since we were told he's the only friend Trip's got), so she's free. At the restaurant, they are amused by imitating judges. It goes on a little long for my taste, but I guess I don't know the judge that's being imitated. The male coworker appears to be hitting on Dana. She panics and leaves. The female coworker looks disappointed.

Orwell at home. She gets a video e-mail about Conrad Chandler. A lady who worked at the cemetery has information. Sounds like a trap to me. Orwell looks at the Record of Birth that is supposedly not a Birth Certificate.

Ruvi hypnotizes Janet with all his might. He's just hypnotizing his little heart out! She says she serves The Lich. He tells her that the Lich wants her to cooperate with him. He takes her back (via hypnotism) to the truck rental place. She describes being dragged somewhere as flashbacky video plays. She's afraid. She's also nearly incomprehensible, but her gasps contain the word "Lich," apparently describing a dude in a hood. She remembers people putting something on a truck. She remembers being at Trolley Route 12, which is not only the only specific thing she knew, it's also the only four consecutive words she said that I could understand. Ruvi, exhausted, tells Rollo, Max and Vince. Vince knows the place. They go!
