Band-Aid

Olivia mentions that Whitney invited her to see Jay's band. Nevan asks what that will be like. It's clear from their smug mugs that they have both already made up their minds. They use as much condescending, verging on downright insulting language as possible, just in case we didn't get the one-dimensionality of their characters and their thoughts on the dreaded Downtown crew. Olivia says that the girls are coming over to the apartment first, so Nevan must vacate. Ha! Olivia obviously takes pleasure in displacing him for even a few minutes. Her couch probably smells like champagne farts and dollar store perfume by now. Nevan snottily sums up, "All right, so you're doing your good deed for the day!" [Yeah, that downtown music scene is so uncool, but you're living on a friend's couch. Classy! - Z]

That night, Erin and Whitney pile into a cab to head to Olivia's apartment. They stupidly believe that Olivia might be the life of the party tonight, not the haughty ho she has proven herself to be time and time again. Don't hold your breath, girls. They can't possibly keep that farce going for more than one sentence, so Erin moves on. JR is coming to the gig. She mentions that she told him about Duncan, and it was super-awkward. He is her Mr. Big. No one measures up -- though she did admit last episode that Duncan has come close. Whitney empathizes. Erin preemptively nixes the idea that they might broach the topic of getting back together. Whitney can tell that that's what she actually does want. And she is positively scandalized by it! Those years of reaction shots on The Hills have really paid off, haven't they Whit? Erin mentions that the timing of all this is shit. In the words of Natalie Sands from Girls Just Want To Have Fun, "Decisions are the worst!"

They arrive at Olivia's apartment and marvel at the small second room, which she has re-purposed as a walk-in closet. OMG, Olivia's dog's name is "Mr. Butler," which would be totally cute if it weren't her dog. Olivia offers them a drink (or, specifically, "champy," so don't get me started...), but they are anxious to get going so they're not late to the show. She claims that Jay will hold up his gig if Whitney's not there. Which is exactly why they're trying to get a move on, nimrod.
