In the police station, Doogie Bateman asks Ty how to get a hold of Sully. Apparently, Sully's still not answering his phone. In a quick bit of exposition, Bateman says that the cop who was accusing Sully has committed suicide and left a convenient note saying he made the whole thing up. The cop's name, incidentally, was Deus Ex Machina. "This investigation is over," Bateman says, and tells Ty that Sully will be back, probably the next day. "That's great," Ty says. Bateman tells Ty that it doesn't mean Sully didn't do it. "What's your problem?" Ty asks. Bateman goes on about how stupid Ty is and how they're not above the law. Does anybody like Doogie Bateman? He puts the "ass" in "asshole." Bateman walks off. Ty is disgusted, but happy.
In the bunk room of the fire station, Doc approaches Bobby, who is lying down. "You're not gonna kiss me?" Bobby asks, cryptically. Doc asks about Bobby's not being able to sleep lately. Bobby says it's just dreams, and gets up to wander around. Doc comes right out and asks if Bobby is using morphine to sleep. He brings Kim into it. "She's wrong," Bobby says. He's pissed. Doc bring up programs in the department to deal with drug abuse. "You think I'm doing dope? Thanks for taking that road, man," Bobby says. Well, damn, Bobby -- what would you think if Kim was doing what you're doing? And it would be a hell of a lot more plausible, too. "I'm not shooting morphine," Bobby says. Then he asks if Doc could help someone who completely changed your life, whether he would do it. He gives a sad little speech about how paramedics are just the middlemen for treatment and don't really do anything. He gets all choked up. Doc tells him not to do anything stupid. Bobby walks away as Sad Music comes up.
In the locker room at the police station, Yokas is wondering who they'll go after next and whether they'll just wait for officers to commit suicide. Bosco is all defiant, saying they should just try to come after him. Big man, big talk. No, wait, he's a tiny man. Well then, tiny man, big talk. Then Bosco complains that he doesn't want to go to sleep because he'll have nasty dreams and Freddy Krueger will come kill his boyfriend, Johnny Depp. (I may have made that last bit up. So sue me.) Yokas asks about the shrink, and Bosco says the psychiatrist was no help. Except for Dr. Melfi on The Sopranos none of them on TV usually are. ["There's a good one on Once and Again this year, too." -- Wing Chun] Yokas tells him that he should drink some herbal tea and watch TV. "I'm surrounded by New Age crap!" Bosco moans. "It's very relaxing!" Yokas fires back, menacingly. This is a damn funny scene. Yokas tells him that Channel 4 is showing some great movies this week, too. She says they're showing Casablanca, High Noon, and Bridge Over the River Kwai. ["Heh. That's funny, because Channel 4 is the NBC affiliate in New York." -- Wing Chun] Bosco asks, "High Noon?" Yokas's face falls comically and I start cracking up. "Son of a bitch!" Bosco yells. His neighbor's TV is so loud he can hear it through the walls. Oh, too, too funny. Bosco throws on his jacket and runs out. Good thing his neighbor wasn't watching Temptation Island. He might have dreamed he was dating Taheed.
